Patent number: 12263765Abstract: A rotatable child safety seat can include a seat shell for receiving a child therein. a rotating pedestal, and a seat base. The pedestal and seat shell can rotate with respect to the seat base. The pedestal can include a locking pin and the seat base can include a multitude of pin receiving apertures that allow a user to rotate the seat shell and pedestal in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction at a number of different angles or positions. The child safety seat can also include two separate seat belt/LATCH tether pathways. One seat belt/LATCH tether pathway can be provided on the seat back of the seal shell and can be used when the child safety seat is in a forward-facing configuration and the other seat belt/LATCH tether pathway can be provided in the seat base and used when in a rearward-facing configuration.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2023Date of Patent: April 1, 2025Assignee: GRACO CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS INC.Inventors: Daniel J. Publication number: 20250042313Abstract: A child restraint system is provided. The child restraint system includes a seat, a headrest, a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and a plurality of internal side impact surfaces including at least a first internal side impact surface that is provide at the first sidewall and a second internal side impact surface that is provided at the second sidewall. In embodiments, four internal side impact surfaces may be provided as well. A pocket is formed in the area between the internal side impact surfaces and respective sidewalls. In this manner, as a child moved towards a sidewall during a crash event, the elbow or entire arm of the child falls into the pocket and the internal side impact surfaces mitigate the movement of the hips and/or shoulders of the child. This reduces the compression of the child's arm against the sidewall, consequentially reducing the compression on the child's chest.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2024Publication date: February 6, 2025Inventors: PHILLIP MICHAEL LAPLANTE, ADAM ANDREW MCKENZIE, THOMAS JAKE MITCHELL

Publication number: 20250001916Abstract: A child restraint system is provided. The child restraint system may be used to secure a child within a vehicle. The child restraint system includes a headrest including a rear portion and one or more sidewalls. Each of the one or more sidewalls includes a first region and a second region. The first region is provided between the second region and the rear portion of the headrest. The first region includes material that protrudes from the sidewall at a greater distance than the material that is included in the second region. Additionally, a slope in the material is provided downwards from the first region into the second region. In this manner, the head of the child travels across the first region and downwards into the second region during a side crash event, which results in energy dissipation occurring over a greater distance.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2024Publication date: January 2, 2025Inventors: Thomas Jake Mitchell, Douglas Jin Kim, Adam Andrew McKenzie, Mark T.
