  • Patent number: 9475584
Abstract: A thrust recovery outflow valve and method for controlling the transfer of air between a cabin in an aircraft and atmosphere outside of the aircraft are provided. An outflow valve is mounted on the aircraft that includes a valve frame, a first valve door, and a second valve door. The first valve door is rotated to a first predetermined open position while the second valve door is in the second door closed position to thereby open first and second flow passages that place the aircraft cabin in fluid communication with the atmosphere. When the first valve door is at a first predetermined open position, a flap is rotated, relative to the first valve door, to at least partially cover the second flow passage and thereby at least inhibit flow through the second flow passage.

  • Publication number: 20070251420
Abstract: A powder coating composition comprising an intimate mixture of at least one thermoplastic and/or thermosetting resin binder and optionally, at least one crosslinking agent and constituents conventional in powder coating compositions, such as, pigments, fillers and additives, comprising aluminum particles having a D50 in a range of 8 to 20 ?m whereby the aluminum particles are treated with compounds selected from the group consisting of silica, (meth)acrylic polymers, polyesters and wax; the powder coating composition provides coatings with a value of thermal emissivity in a range of 0.4 to 0.55 with total solar reflectance values in a range of 60 to 70% in the infrared (IR) and/or near IR (NIR) wavelength region of 0.3 to 2.5 ?m, to minimize the heat transportation through a substrate coated by the powder coating composition, e.g., from a warm building to a colder environment.

  • Publication number: 20060230925
Abstract: A portable system for air separation or air dehydration, or both, is carried on a truck or equivalent vehicle. The air separation system includes, at a minimum, a feed compressor and a gas separation membrane. The air dehydration system includes a feed compressor and an air dehydration membrane. The feed compressor receives power from the engine of the vehicle, only when the vehicle is not moving under its own power. Heat from the vehicle engine may also be used to heat the compressed air stream to prevent the formation of water. The system can also be used to perform air dehydration and air separation simultaneously. The system is substantially self-contained, and can be easily driven from one location to another, simply by driving the vehicle to another location. The invention is especially useful in providing air separation or air dehydration services, or both, for relatively brief periods, at multiple locations.

  • Publication number: 20060231099
Abstract: A system for making dry, hydrocarbon-free compressed air includes a compressor, a membrane drier, and a carbon bed connected in series. A moisture separator may also be included to remove liquid water from the stream. A filter may be placed after the carbon bed to remove residual carbon dust. The output of the system can be connected to operate virtually any pneumatic device, such as a control valve or pneumatically-operated instrument. Because the chemical content of the compressed air is not changed, it remains breathable, and does not create a safety hazard.
