  • Patent number: 12152530
Abstract: A turbine-compressor assembly includes a turbine-compressor device fluidly coupled with a heat source, a compressor, and a turbine via plural valves. A power device is coupled with the turbine-compressor device via a shaft. A controller can control operation of the plural valves to control the movement of fluids within the assembly to selectively switch between the turbine-compressor device operating in one of plural operating modes. In a first mode of operation, the turbine-compressor device can generate electrical power and direct the electrical power to the power device to control an amount of power provided to or extracted from the shaft by the power device. In a second mode of operation, the turbine-compressor device can receive electrical power from the power device to consumer the electrical power.

  • Publication number: 20240383184
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a film includes forming a blend containing a renewable content starch, a renewable content mineral, and polyethylene, operating a mass flow hopper to maintain a consistent mass flow rate of the blend to a feed throat of an extruder, and operating the extruder with a screw speed and melt temperature based on the amount by weight of the starch and mineral within the blend. The melt is passed through a screen pack with a mesh rating based on the amount by weight of the starch and mineral within the blend, is passed through a die, and is cooled into a film. The film is nipped to a gauge such that the film can be formed into a bag.

  • Publication number: 20240377862
Abstract: Current mobile devices that feature force feedback touchpads include haptic engines that operate in a narrow bandwidth and therefore cannot be used as a dual-purpose center channel for media playback. Further, a separate dedicated loudspeaker for a center channel would add cost and reduce integration space. The presently disclosed dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker can enable an enhanced audio experience without the need for an additional dedicated loudspeaker. The dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker can be used for haptics feedback as well as provide audio output over the frequency range 400 Hz to 10 kHz. The dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker may use a tuned spring-mass actuator and adopt mechanical properties to provide a specific desired mechanical compliance to the dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker.

  • Publication number: 20240379218
Abstract: A caregiver assistance system helps caregivers manage the care of patients and the beds that support the patients. The system monitors tasks associated with the patients, such as caregiver rounding tasks, bed sore assessments, and/or fall risk assessments, and forwards completed tasks to an EMR server. The system also monitors the state of the beds and determines compliance with one or more healthcare facility protocols. Over time, the system gathers data from multiple beds regarding how often the beds are in compliance with the healthcare facility protocols and produces reports of the compliance levels to assist administrators in managing their healthcare facilities. The system may further monitor how quickly caregivers responds to one or more alert conditions relating to the beds and/or patients, and generate reports for the administrators regarding such response times.

  • Publication number: 20240380136
Abstract: The present disclosure provides cam activated wire termination assemblies for electrical wiring devices. The electrical wiring devices include a cover and a base. The base has a wire chamber supporting a wire termination assembly. The wire termination assembly includes a wire fastening member and a conductive member. The wire fastening member has a cam surface and is rotatable between an open position and a securing position. The conductive member is positioned in close proximity to the wire fastening member such that a gap is provided between the wire fastening member and the conductive member when the wire fastening member is in the open position. When the wire fastening member is rotated from the open position to the securing position, the cam surface rotates to reduce the size of the gap between the wire fastening member and the conductive member.

  • Publication number: 20240375173
Abstract: The invention relates to the reduction of core losses in soft magnetic applications utilizing amorphous foil as the core material. Amorphous foil is known to have lower losses when compared to crystalline silicon steel laminations. It is found that a reduction of 10-40% of losses can be achieved over the current state of the art amorphous material by mechanical scribing of the surface of the soft magnetic laminations comprising the wound core in power conditioning devices such as a transformer. The scribing process introduces control of the magnetic domains causing ease of magnetic flux reversal.

  • Patent number: 12142445
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for releasing welded-shut contactors of a contactor system. An exemplary contactor system may include a contactor and a controller. The controller may be programmed to command a vibration across portions of the contactor as part of a weld release control strategy when the contactor is welded closed. The vibration may be achieved by repeatedly alternating between energizing and de-energizing a coil of the contactor in order to mechanically shock/vibrate a welded contact of the contactor.

  • Patent number: 12133731
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a cardiac monitoring device and systems/methods relating to same. Preferred embodiments may include adhesive layers having channels for transpiring moisture to promote long term adhesion of the device to a subject. The adhesive layer may be surrounded by a non-adhesive lining to inhibit substrate layers from folding under the adhesive. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer may be replaceable. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer may extend beneath a substrate coupled to a housing but not be adhered to the overlying substrate layers. The angles of the edges of the adhesive layer may be configured to minimize peeling forces. Substrate layers above the adhesive layer may be perforated to promote transpiration of moisture and/or provide conformability to the substrate. The perforations may promote anisotropic resistance to compression and/or extension of the substrate.
