  • Patent number: 11818402
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for a software defined network (SDN) controller that virtualizes network elements to provide content delivery and data services through the virtualized network elements. In one embodiment, the SDN controller is operable in a cloud computing environment to balance data traffic through the virtualized network elements. For example, the SDN controller may abstract Layer 2 Control Protocol (L2CP) frame processing of the network elements into the cloud computing environment to relieve the network elements from the burdens of Ethernet frame processing. In this regard, the SDN controller comprises a L2CP decision module that determines how L2CP should be processed for the network elements.

In one embodiment, the SDN controller is operable in a cloud computing environment to balance data traffic through the virtualized network elements. For example, the SDN controller may process a request for content from a user equipment (UE), determine a bandwidth capability of the UE, determine that bandwidth of the requested content exceeds the bandwidth capability of the UE, analyze the bandwidth capacity of the network elements, generate a virtual channel through the network elements based on the bandwidth capacity of the network elements, and to deliver the content to the UE through the virtualized channel.

  • Publication number: 20060230170
Abstract: A method for delivering streaming media files to a plurality of end users from a streaming media delivery system including a filer for storing the media files and a streaming server for serving the media files generally includes the steps of monitoring demand for the streaming media files, identifying at least one of the streaming media files to be cached when demand for the at least one of the streaming media files reaches a pre-defined threshold, copying the streaming media file to a streaming server from a media storage device, and streaming the streaming media file using the copy stored locally on the streaming server.

  • Publication number: 20050058890
Abstract: The present invention discloses a battery pack having an elastic bumper mounted externally to a plastic housing of the battery pack. The plastic housing includes a floor, a circumferential wall expanding upward from an outer peripheral edge of the floor and a cap. The floor, wall, and cap collectively define an enclosed internal cavity wherein a plurality of battery cells are mounted for providing power to the power tool. The elastic bumper serves as a cushion in the event of an impact load exerted on the battery pack or exerted on the battery pack and the associated power tool, if the battery pack or the assembled power tool and battery pack are dropped in an orientation in which the battery pack strikes a hard surface.
