  • Publication number: 20210128792
Abstract: The present disclosure relates a biocompatible biodegradable polymer matrix which serves as a template for the growth of differentiated skin tissue comprising a dermis and an epidermis, the combination of the matrix and the differentiated skin, the method of preparing the same and the tissue obtainable from said method. The disclosure also extends to use of the differentiated skin in treatment. Thus, there is provided a matrix of electrospun fibres for growing differentiated skin tissue prepared by electrospinning solution of a biocompatible biodegradable polymer, wherein the electrospun fibres are about 0.3 ?m to about 5 ?m in diameter for example 1 to 5 ?m, such as 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, or 4.

  • Patent number: 9993894
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting radiation is provided. In embodiments, at least one sensor is disposed on a surface of a wafer-like substrate. At least one sensor medium is fixed relative to the substrate, optically or electrically coupled to the sensor, and separated from the sensor by no more than the substrate thickness. An electronic signal-processing circuit is connected to the sensor and configured to produce an output when the sensor is stimulated by a product of an interaction between the sensor medium and impinging radiation. The sensor is configured to collect, from the sensor medium, charge and/or light produced within the sensor medium by interactions with impinging radiation.

  • Publication number: 20160260285
Abstract: Operating a fantasy sports game that leverages player skill to provide limited opportunities to select game elements and incorporates real-life performance of human athletes to determine a computer-guided outcome. An entry fee is received from an entrant to play the game. An electronic display device presents a roster of real-life athletes of a real-life sport automatically selected from a pool of selectable real-life athletes. Entrant input is received that identifies, at the entrant's option, none, all, or at least one but less than all of the athletes in the roster to be replaced. The identified athletes, if any, are replaced in the roster with other real-life athletes automatically selected from the same pool. A total score is determined based on respective individual scores of the athletes in the roster from their respective real-life performance in the real-life sport. An award is awarded when the total score satisfies a predetermined criterion.

  • Publication number: 20070143105
Abstract: A wireless device for use with speech recognition applications comprises a frame generator for generating successive frames from digitized original audio signals, the frames representing portions of the digitized audio signals. An autocorrelation circuit generates a set of coefficients for each frame, the coefficient set being reflective of spectral characteristics of the audio signal portion represented by the frame. In one embodiment, the autocorrelation coefficients may be used to predict the original audio signal to be subtracted from the original audio signals and to generate residual signals A Bluetooth transceiver is configured for transmitting the set of coefficients and/or residual signals as data to another device, which utilizes the coefficients for speech applications.

  • Publication number: 20060150577
Abstract: An insulating unit has a pair of glass sheets about an edge assembly to provide a compartment between the sheets. The edge assembly has a U-shaped spacer made of metal, metal coated plastic, gas and moisture impervious polymer, or gas and moisture impervious film coated polymer. The outer legs of the spacer and the glass provide a long diffusion path to limit the diffusion of argon gas out of the compartment. The edge assembly has materials selected and sized to provide edge assembly having an RES-value of at least 75. A spacer for use in insulating units includes a plastic core having a gas impervious film e.g. a metal film or a halogenated polymer film. Also taught herein are techniques for making the unit and spacer.
