  • Patent number: 9728371
Abstract: A magnetic system for uniformly scanning an ion beam across a semiconductor wafer comprises a magnetic scanner having ac and dc coil windings each of which extend linearly along internal pole faces of a magnetic core. The ac and dc coil windings are mutually orthogonal; a time dependent magnetic component causes ion beam scanning while a substantially static (dc) field component allows the ion beam to be bent in an orthogonal plane. The current density in the ac and dc coil windings is uniformly dispersed along the pole faces leading to an improved beam spot uniformity at the wafer. The magnetic system also includes a collimator having first and second mutually opposed symmetrical dipoles defining an aperture between them. The poles of each dipole have a pole face varying monotonically and polynomially in a direction perpendicular to a central axis of the collimator: an increasing pole gap is formed towards that central axis.

  • Publication number: 20170205013
Abstract: A fitting for use in making a fluid connection with a pipe includes a saddle adapted to couple the fitting to the pipe. The saddle includes a body and first and second arms configured to extend at least partly around the pipe when coupling the fitting to the pipe. The fitting also includes a tap member adapted to insert at least partly into the pipe when the saddle couples the fitting to the pipe, to thereby establish the fluid connection between the fitting and the pipe. The tap member includes at least one support arm configured to moveably couple the tap member to the saddle such that the first and second arms of the saddle can be extended at least partly around the pipe prior to inserting the tap member at least partly into the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20170159863
Abstract: A pipe-fitting adaptor assembly connectable to the coupling end of a pipe fitting is provided for reconfiguring existing pipe fittings with alternate pipe coupling ends. The fitting adaptor assembly has a tubular receptacle member configured to fit over and seal against an insert member of the fitting. A sliding retention ring carried along a ramped section of the fitting insert member interlocks with an opening formed in the sidewall of the receptacle member of the fitting adaptor assembly, such that decoupling forces tend to expand the locking ring further into the sidewall opening of the fitting adaptor assembly. The fitting adaptor assembly has a coupling end configured differently than the insert member for connection to otherwise incompatible alternative pipe sizes and/or pipe coupling configurations.

  • Patent number: 9486319
Abstract: Load transferring systems and related methods for transferring load in a joint are provided. The load transferring system may include two bases configured to couple to bones defining a joint and a spring configured to couple to the bases. The spring may be configured to exert a tensile force between the bases during flexion of the joint. The load transferring system may be employed to treat symptoms associated with osteoarthritis of the lateral compartment of the knee joint. Thus, the bases may respectively couple to the femur and tibia. The spring may exert tensile force therebetween during flexion of the knee joint so as to unload the lateral compartment of the knee joint by transferring load from the lateral compartment of the knee joint to the medial compartment of the knee joint.

  • Publication number: 20160169431
Abstract: A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes a tubular insert member configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe, and a retention member coupled to the insert member and configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe. The retention member operates in conjunction with the insert member to engage the end portion of the pipe and impart an increased force against an inner wall of the pipe in response to forces tending to separate the fitting from the end portion of the pipe. The insert member includes a plurality of reinforcement ribs formed on its inner surface which provide support to the insert member and help prevent damage thereto from transverse bending forces applied during installation.

  • Publication number: 20150251972
Abstract: A process for separation and treatment of a naphtha feedstock to increase overall octane in a gasoline blending pool by reducing or removing the normal pentane in the feedstock. The feedstock is passed into a divided wall column having an undivided top portion, an undivided bottom portion and a wall dividing a middle portion into two sections. The intermediate faction can include either all normal pentane, which can be utilized on other processes, or it can include a mixture of normal pentane and C6 hydrocarbons, which can be isomerized in an isomerization zone to increase the octane and then passed to a gasoline blending pool.
