  • Publication number: 20250198377
Abstract: A fuel injector having a first nozzle needle in a first needle guide, which either opens or blocks a fuel flow of a first fuel through first fuel injection orifices, a second nozzle needle, which either opens or blocks a fuel flow of a second fuel for igniting the first fuel, through second fuel injection orifices. The first fuel injection orifices are arranged along a pitch circle contour and the second fuel injection orifices along a circular contour such that a distance between the centre point of the pitch circle contour and the centre point of the circular contour is greater than the sum of the radius of the pitch circle contour and the radius of the circular contour. In the installed state of the fuel injector the second fuel injection orifices project further into a combustion chamber of the cylinder than the first fuel injection orifices.

  • Publication number: 20250198374
Abstract: A fuel injector for supplying fuel having a first nozzle needle that interacts with first fuel injection orifices to open or block a fuel flow of a first, relatively less ignitable fuel through the first fuel injection orifices, and a second nozzle needle that interacts with second fuel injection orifices and with third fuel injection orifices (to open or block a fuel flow of a second, relatively ignitable fuel both through the second and third fuel injection orifices The first fuel injection orifices inject the first fuel in a first spray cone with a first cone angle. The second fuel injection orifices inject the second fuel in a second spray cone with a second cone angle. The third fuel injection orifices are equipped for injecting the second fuel in a third spray cone with a third cone angle into the combustion space.

  • Publication number: 20240360808
Abstract: A fuel injector supplying fuel to a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, having a main body, a first nozzle needle moveably guided in a first needle guide, a first needle fuel chamber interacting with the first nozzle needle for a first liquid fuel, coupled to the combustion chamber by first channels. The first channels, via first inner openings, are connected to the first needle fuel chamber, having a second nozzle needle moveably guided in a second needle guide, a second needle fuel chamber interacting with the second nozzle needle for a second liquid fuel, coupled via second channels to the combustion chamber. The second channels are connected via second inner openings to the second needle fuel chamber. The first inner openings are arranged on a first circular contour and the second inner openings on a second circular contour extending concentrically about the first circular contour.

  • Patent number: 11585303
Abstract: A dual-fuel internal combustion engine includes: cylinders for combusting a first liquid fuel having a first ignitability in a first operating mode, and a second liquid fuel having a second lesser ignitability, in a second operating mode; a main injection system including a main injector for each cylinder, for feeding the first liquid fuel to the respective cylinders in the first operating mode and for feeding the second liquid fuel to the respective cylinders in the second operating mode; and a pilot injection system including a pilot injector for each cylinder, via which the first liquid fuel can is feedable to the respective cylinders in the second operating mode for igniting the second liquid fuel. The main and pilot injection systems are coupled such that in the second operating mode the first liquid fuel, is feedable to the respective main injector as a working fluid and/or a barrier fluid.

  • Patent number: 10174729
Abstract: An injector for a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine, namely for a common rail fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine which is formed in particular as a large diesel internal combustion engine or ship's diesel internal combustion engine, having an injection nozzle, a control valve and a retaining body. The injection nozzle and the control valve form a clamped composite, and the composite formed of the injection nozzle and control valve can be mounted on the retaining body as a unit and disassembled from the retaining body as a unit.
