Publication number: 20190301859Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining parameters of the chassis geometry of wheels of a non steered axle, amuse of the method, a test bench for a vehicle, and a measuring unit. The method relates to determining the parameters of the chassis geometry of the Wheels of the rear axle of a vehicle from measurements of the toe angle in two measuring positions of the vehicle in the test bench, which positions are mutually offset in the x-direction. Wheel runout compensation is achieved thereby. The geometric driving axle thus determined can be used for setting driver assistance systems and for setting the parameters of the chassis geometry of the steered wheels of the front axle. A measuring unit can be designed such that a plurality of parallel lines for generating a planar pattern are generated by means of a parallel displacement of a sensor in the x-direction, which sensor emits linear light having one line.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2017Publication date: October 3, 2019Inventors: André Deutsch, Thomas Kolb, Simon Stroh, Thomas Tentrup

Publication number: 20050156600Abstract: At least one antenna array including three mutually orthogonal antennas each sharing a common center point senses an electromagnetic signal emitted by a buried object such as a utility line, pipe or sonde. A circuit at least partially mounted in a housing is connected to the array and determines a location of the buried object by measuring signal strength and field angles in three dimensions without having to align the antenna array relative to the buried object while eliminating nulls and false peaks. A graphical user interface (GUI) has user-friendly icons, symbols, menus, numbers and graphical and auditory representation of signal strength. A plurality of different underground objects can be simultaneously detected and their different locations can be simultaneously indicated to a user via audible sounds and/or visual images on a display.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2005Publication date: July 21, 2005Inventors: Mark Olsson, Jeffrey Prsha, Dawn Shaffer, Ray Merewether, Michael Martin, Bradley Barnicoat, David Cox, Thomas Kolb

Patent number: 5527126Abstract: A press fit between a spline shaft and a spline hub is disclosed. The spline shaft has, on one end region, a spline-shaft toothing arranged on the outside and the spline hub has an inner spline-hub toothing which corresponds essentially to the spline shaft toothing. In the prefabricated state, the spline hub toothing is provided with an undersize in relation to the spline-shaft toothing. Those edges of the tooth flanks of the spline-shaft toothing at the front on the insertion side are designed as cutting edges which, during the insertion of the spline shaft into the spline hub come into engagement with a chipping effect on the tooth flanks of the spline-hub toothing. So as to avoid a risk emanating from these chips, the depth of insertion of the spline shaft into the spline hub is limited by a shoulder, and the distance between the cutting edge and the shoulder is smaller than the extension of the spline hub. As a result, the chips remain within the spline-hub toothing of the spline hub.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1994Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Mercedes- Benz AGInventors: Wolfgang Digel, Thomas Kolb
