  • Patent number: 7234396
Abstract: An ink applicator has at least one generally stationary mounting part, a fixed elongated bar fixedly mounted on the mounting part and carrying an elongated applicator blade, and a movable elongated bar mounted on the mounting part, extending parallel to the fixed bar, carrying an elongated applicator blade parallel to the fixed-bar blade, and defining an elongated ink-holding compartment with the fixed bar. The movable bar is supported on the mounting part for movement between an outer position with the movable-bar blade spaced transversely from the fixed-bar blade and defining a gap through which ink can flow out of the compartment and an inner position with the blades engaging one another and closing the gap so that no ink can flow out of the compartment.

  • Publication number: 20070102875
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for conveying sheetlike articles, in particular printed sheets, by which conveyed sheetlike articles may optionally be fed to various conveying routes, various delivery stacks being provided in particular at the end of the conveying routes. The device includes at least one conveying module (1, 2, 3, 4) having at least one continuously revolving suction belt (11) which exerts a negative pressure on the underside of an article (200) to be conveyed, and which conveys the article (200) from the start to the end of the conveying module (1, 2, 3, 4). At least one conveying module (2) is designed as a mechanical switch point in order to reroute a conveyed sheetlike article (200) in its conveying route. The invention further relates to a method for operating such a device.

  • Patent number: 5357812
Abstract: Stress in a paper web in a rotary printing press is measured by directing the web past two tubular members spaced in the direction of web travel and supported by support arms. Deflection of the support arms is measured and provides an indication of the amount of stress in the paper web.

  • Patent number: 5325775
Abstract: A chambered doctor blade for a short inking unit of a rotary press includes an ink receiving chamber and a profiled body positioned in the chamber. The shapes of the profiled body and the ink receiving chamber are complementary and define an ink flow path. This path is tapered in the direction of ink flow and provides a forced circulation of the ink through the tapered flow path.

  • Patent number: 5279498
Abstract: A bearing journal for a paper guide roller has a blind bore extending inwardly from an axial outer end. The blind bore carries cooperating clamping wedges which are slidable with respect to each other to thereby radially expand an annular clamping area of the bearing journal into engagement with a side wall of the printing press.

  • Patent number: 4559871
Abstract: An ink dividing assembly for an inking roller in an ink fountain of a rotary printing press is disclosed. One or more inking bars are positioned adjacent the ink roller and carry doctor blades. Thin ink dividing plates are slideably carried in guide depressions formed by guide plates attached to the ends of the inking bars. A front surface of each ink divider plate is curved and sealingly engages the peripheral surface of the inking roller. The ink dividing plates may be spring biased in the guide depressions into contact with the ink roller.
