  • Patent number: 11590813
Abstract: A silencer assembly for trailer hitches and a method of use thereof. The silencer assembly includes a sheet of material that is durable, abrasion-resistant, wear-resistant, ultra-violet light resistant, and sound dampening. An adhesive is applied to a bottom surface of the sheet which is then placed on a portion of the drawbar that is selectively receivable in a bore of receiver tube of the trailer hitch. The adhesive fixedly secures the sheet to the drawbar. The drawbar is inserted into the receiver bore. The sheet occupies part of a gap defined between an exterior surface of the drawbar and an interior surface of the receiver tube reducing relative movement between the drawbar and the receiver tube, and thereby reducing rattling noises. An additional sheet of material and one or more shims may be used to further reduce the gap between the drawbar and receiver tube, and thereby further reduce rattling.

  • Publication number: 20020195870
Abstract: A trailer braking system includes a controller that supplies pressurized air or hydraulic fluid to an actuator that powers a master brake cylinder on the trailer. A pressure sensor is supplied to provide feedback to the controller so that the controller may vary the braking force being generated by the system. The trailer braking system includes an indicator system that allows the driver of the vehicle towing the trailer to readily determine the status of the trailer braking system.

  • Patent number: 5806937
Abstract: A trailer braking system for applying hydraulic brake pressure to a trailer includes a master brake cylinder mounted to a flange body carried by the trailer frame. The master cylinder is hydraulically connected to the trailer brakes as well as to a feedback control cylinder. An electronic brake controller is electronically connected to an electromagnet positioned adjacent to, but spaced apart from an iron bar carried by a control system lever. When the electronic brake controller forwards a signal to the electromagnet, it is energized and attracts the iron bar thereby moving the control system lever toward an energized stop. Movement of this control system lever forwards a signal to a control valve which exhausts air from an air spring. As air is exhausted from the air spring, an actuator lever and an interconnected actuator rod are moved toward the master cylinder. Movement of the actuator rod applies brake pressure to the trailer brakes, and also supplies pressure to the feedback control cylinder.
