  • Patent number: 4475809
Abstract: A photographic exposure apparatus for modifying graphic images by adding or subtracting image area in precise amounts from all defining edges of the graphic image as it is being exposed upon a light sensitive sheet, includes a chassis having a horizontal top. A film board, having an overlying light sensitive film, overlies the chassis top for movement in an orbital path relative to the chassis. A fixed position film carriage, supporting a film having an image to be reproduced, is superimposed on the film board in contiguous contact with the light sensitive sheet. A motor driven eccentric motion dial drive guide is connected with an under carriage supported by the chassis top and connected with the film board. The drive guide is manually adjusted and the motor energized for orbital movement of the film board in a path of predetermined magnitude during exposure of the image on the light sensitive sheet.

  • Patent number: 4334757
Abstract: A generally planar T-shaped separator replaces the conventional separator in a diffusion transfer processor. The bar of the T-shape projects forwardly in spaced parallel relation with respect to the forward side of a diffusion transfer processor with the stem of the T-shape centrally projecting into the chemical bath of the processor. This permits register pin receiving end portions of a light sensitive negative sheet and receiver sheet, disposed in superposed relation and respectively under and overlying the T-bar of the separator, to be registered together with pins at their respective corner portions facing the processor. The two sheets, joined by the pins to maintain registration, are then moved through the processor while the stem of the separator maintains a spacing between the two sheets while in the chemical bath to allow the chemical bath to flow between the sheets for proper development.

  • Patent number: 4324489
Abstract: A photographic exposure apparatus and method for preparing production artwork of an image to be reproduced by photo-engraving. Prior art handwork or manually operated devices employed in modifying artwork images required high levels of skill and considerable time to achieve satisfactory results. The subject apparatus includes a movable panel superposed on a stationary plate for supporting a film containing an image to be reproduced in contiguous contact with a light sensitive sheet superposed on the stationary plate. An eccentric motion dial guide connected with a drive motor and connected with the film support panel is manually adjusted and the motor energized for orbital movement of the film support panel in a path of predetermined magnitude during exposure of the image on the light sensitive sheet.

  • Patent number: 4268166
Abstract: A photographic exposure apparatus and method for preparing production artwork of an image to be reproduced by photoengraving. The apparatus includes a movable panel superposed on a stationary plate for supporting a film containing an image to be reproduced in contiguous contact with a light sensitive sheet superposed on the stationary plate. Film registration indicators at least on the stationary plate permit successive identical registration of the film and at least one light sensitive sheet. An orbital motion guide and a linear motion guide, separately connected with driving motors and separately connected with the film support panel, are selectively manually adjusted and the respective motor energized for moving the film support panel in a predetermined path of predetermined magnitude during exposure of the image on the light sensitive sheet. In an alternative embodiment, the image is projected on the light sensitive sheet when attached to the film support panel by an overhead projector.

  • Patent number: 4238897
Abstract: Apparatus for presenting a display utilized with a placard preferably includes a first display member and a second display member that each define a channel for slidably receiving and retaining an object of visual observation. The display members are releasably connected in a back-to-back relationship by cooperative connector portions integrally defined on the back surfaces thereof. Preferably, a recess is defined in each channel for receiving a flap on the object of visual observation, and a ridge protrudes into the channel to engage the object and facilitate its removal.

  • Patent number: 4229895
Abstract: A base supported upright frame supports an electric motor and gear train having a vertically disposed drive shaft. The drive shaft is axially connected by brackets, stub axle and bearings with a nonrotating swash plate. An elongated strand, connected at one end with a radial portion of the plate and entrained over one or more pulleys, is connected at its other end with an element to be animated by the plate moving the strand in a vertical reciprocating action.

  • Patent number: 4141732
Abstract: A method of preparing color separated font characters and components in which positive proofs of the characters of the font intended for color printing are arranged by rows in linear spaced relation with the color components of each character of the font disposed one above the other on a flat plane in predetermined spaced relation. The color separated components and characters of the font are then printed on a transparent film for subsequent transfer of selected characters of the font to a layout sheet for photographic reproduction and forming plates or engravings to be printed in two or more colors.

  • Patent number: 4132021
Abstract: An upright housing, having a plurality of spaced-apart apertures in its wall arranged in a horizontal plane, supports an electric motor driving a crank member for rotation in the plane of the apertures. An elongated flexible member, connected at one end with the crank member and entrained through a selected one of the apertures, is connected at its other end with an article to be animated by the crank member moving the flexible strand through the selected aperture in a reciprocating action.

  • Patent number: 4116694
Abstract: A method of preparing color separated components and characters of a film strip type font in registration for photo composition. Positive proofs of the characters of a type font adaptable for multicolor printing are arranged in linear spaced relation. An overlay strip is formed for each supplementary color component of the type font characters to be printed. The several linear strips are arranged on a flat plane in superposed identically spaced parallel relation. A single negative film strip is formed from the assembled character and component strips for contact printing on photo sensitive paper of selected characters and components on the negative film.
