  • Patent number: 4683674
Abstract: According to the present invention, a panel for use in a garden compost bin or garden planter is taught which allows convenient horizontal or vertical connection of like panels to collectively form the container. The panel is shaped to enhance the structural strength thereof and reduce the tendency of the panel to deflect under load. The panel is nestable in other like panels to permit dense packaging and essentially requires no modification for defining containers of different diameter. The particular structure of the panel allows an interior portion thereof to be cut from the body of the panel to allow hinging of that portion out of the plane of the panel for accessing the interior of the container or for providing support for plants etc., when it is used as a planter.

  • Patent number: 4662775
Abstract: A molded, one-piece adaptor for concentrically connecting a steering wheel and a steering wheel shaft is disclosed. In particular, the adaptor is useful when the steering wheel shaft has a tubular form, but the adaptor may be readily modified in order to connect to a steering wheel shaft having a rod-like form. The adaptor comprises an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion has a mechanism for meshing with the steering wheel. The lower portion engages with the steering wheel shaft. If the steering wheel shaft is tubular, the steering wheel shaft slips over the lower portion which has a plurality of tapered ribs which are spaced around and extend axially along the lower portion. These tapered ribs tend to take up any variation in tolerances so as to reduce the rocking between the steering wheel and steering wheel shaft.

  • Patent number: 4614282
Abstract: A connecting mechanism for connecting a one-piece, molded-plastic cover having an outer skirt extending downwardly from the periphery of the cover to a one-piece, molded plastic body having at least a partially-hollow interior portion. The connecting means comprises flexible leg-members extending downwardly from an interior region of the cover. Each leg-member has an opening in the lower, central portion thereof. The body has dog-members which correspond to the corresponding leg-members in the cover. When the cover is connected to the body, the dog-members become engaged in the opening of the corresponding leg-member. The invention has particular application for connecting steering-wheel hub-caps to steering-wheel hubs.

  • Patent number: 4036527
Abstract: This invention provides a frameless, stress skin seat construction which can be attached without frame members either to others of its kind or to a supporting surface. The seat construction includes a seat pan of sheet metal formed to define beam-portions at opposite sides, a cylindrical portion at the front for load supporting capacity, and a concave upward dished portion in the rear to add torsion resistance. The construction also includes a back pan of sheet metal which is shaped to define rearwardly opening beam portions at opposite sides, a concave forward dished portion in the lower half to add torsion resistance, and a rearwardly opening U-shaped channel at the top for providing beam strength. The two pans are secured together in such a way that a force sufficient to fold the pans together will cause buckling primarily at the joint between them, rather than any buckling in the pans themselves.
