  • Patent number: 4381915
Abstract: A filamentary-type photoflash lamp suitable for use with a relatively low voltage high current power source includes a glass envelope with a shredded metal fill, a pair of leads interconnected by a filament wire and a primer having percussively-ignitable and powdered combustible incandescible material on the leads with the primer material responsive to heat generated by the filament wire. A process for fabricating the above-described photoflash lamp is also provided as well as a primer material composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 1981
Date of Patent: May 3, 1983
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation
    Inventor: Thomas L. Gavenonis
  • Patent number: 4374073
Abstract: A method of making a hermetically-sealed pyrotechnic cap is described which includes a plastic (e.g. polyethylene) container and a quantity of pyrotechnic mixture therein. Closure of the container is achieved by heat-sealing an end thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 6, 1980
Date of Patent: February 15, 1983
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation

  • Patent number: 4372210
Abstract: An improved pyrotechnic cap which includes a plastic container having a quantity of pyrotechnic composition hermetically sealed therein. The cap is capable of being ignited by the radiant energy from an adjacent flashlamp to provide an audible signal of high intensity (e.g. 158 to 164 decibels at 25 centimeters). The improvement constitutes providing the composition with a quantity of desensitizing material (e.g. powdered polyethylene) which significantly decreases the cap's sensitivity to ignition by mechanical impact or crushing.

  • Patent number: 4267774
Abstract: A hermetically-sealed pyrotechnic cap is described which includes a plastic (e.g. polyethylene) container and a quantity of pyrotechnic mixture therein. Closure of the container is achieved by heat-sealing an end thereof. A method for effecting the closure is also described.

  • Patent number: H638
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing low peak time and pulse width actinic energy from a lamp by varying the input energy of a capacitive ignition circuit having relatively high voltage to the lamp. The lamp comprises a pair of electrodes disposed within a light transparent envelope in which a combustible and an oxidizing gas reaction combination is located. The combustible is preferably shredded zirconium which is in contact with and provides an electrical discharge path between the electrodes. The gas is preferably pressurized oxygen.
