    Abstract: A fluidic subsystem disposed on a vehicle includes an electric motor, a motor driver, and a fluidic pump that is disposed in a fluidic circuit that is monitored by a pressure sensor. A controller includes an instruction set that is executable to dynamically observe operation of the fluidic subsystem, from which it determines a plurality of observed parameters associated with the operation of the fluidic subsystem and a plurality of estimated parameters associated with the fluidic subsystem. A plurality of fault isolation parameters are determined based upon the observed parameters and the estimated parameters, and a fault in the fluidic subsystem is isolated based upon the fault isolation parameters. The isolated fault is communicated via the controller.

    Abstract: An engine fuel system includes a fuel delivery system including a first fuel pump that is coupled to a pressure relief valve that is arranged in parallel with a second fuel pump. The first fuel pump is disposed to deliver pressurized fuel to the second fuel pump and the pressure relief valve, and the second fuel pump is disposed to deliver pressurized fuel to the fuel rail. A controller characterizes the first fuel pump to determine a relationship between a fuel pump speed and a fuel pump current at a setpoint pressure for the pressure relief valve. A feed-forward pump speed command is determined based upon a target fuel pressure and a fuel flowrate. A closed-loop pump speed is commanded based upon the characterization of the fuel pump. The first fuel pump is controlled to deliver fuel to the second fuel pump based thereon.

An outlet fitting including an end dam permits rotation of the tube outlet end therein, allows escape of gases from the upper portion of the tube, and permits overflow of electrolyte liquid thereover and fixedly supports the end of a cathode rod. The cathode rod is formed as two aligned, axially adjacent partial length sections. The positive terminal of an electric current supply connects at a plurality of points to the tube along its length and connects at its negative terminal individually to the outer ends of the two cathode sections.
