    Abstract: A method for coating sports implements to improve the hardness and wear characteristics of the sports implement is disclosed. The method includes the steps of generating a high velocity gas stream directed at a sports implement and feeding a powder within the gas stream such that the powder contacts the sports implement to form a coating with high bond strength. Sports implements coated in accordance with the present method are also disclosed.
