    Abstract: A system for minimizing exposure of at least one occupant to a pathogen and for circulating air within a space is provided. The system includes a fan for circulating air within the space. At least one sensor for sensing a parameter within the space is provided. A controller is configured for determining a risk of exposure to the pathogen based on the sensed parameter within the space and to alter operation of the fan and/or a source of germicidal energy, such as a UV light, based on the determined risk of exposure. Related methods are also disclosed.
