Patent number: 9328268Abstract: A continuous process for preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive using a planetary roller extruder is described. The continuous process includes introducing at least one non-thermoplastic elastomer into a planetary roller extruder and initially compounding the non-thermoplastic elastomer in the planetary roller extruder to form an initially masticated non-thermoplastic elastomer. Then, a solid raw material, a liquid material, or both are introduced into the initially masticated non-thermoplastic elastomer in the planetary roller extruder, and subsequent compounding of the initially masticated non-thermoplastic elastomer with these additional components occurs to form an adhesive composition.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2013Date of Patent: May 3, 2016Assignee: INTERTAPE POLYMER CORP.Inventors: John Kinch Tynan, Jr., Richard Walter St. Coeur, David Michael Kovach, Thomas Lombardo

Patent number: 8552084Abstract: A process for preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive using a modified planetary roller extruder is described. The process in accordance with one aspect of the invention is a continuous process that includes introducing primary raw materials comprising a non-thermoplastic elastomer into a planetary roller extruder, introducing a heat-activatable crosslinker into the planetary roller extruder for mixing with the primary raw materials, and compounding the primary raw materials and the heat activatable crosslinker to form an adhesive composition while maintaining the temperature of the adhesive composition between about 25° C. and about 100° C. The non-thermoplastic elastomer is masticated during compounding and at least some of the heat-activatable crosslinker remains generally unactivated and is available for later activation.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2011Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Intertape Polymer Corp.Inventors: John Kinch Tynan, Jr., Richard Walter St. Coeur, David Michael Kovach, Thomas Lombardo

Patent number: 7330128Abstract: A system for detecting radiation that is embodied within a trash collection truck. The trash collection truck has a storage bin for holding compressed trash and a collection bin for temporarily holding newly collected trash. A compaction mechanism is used to move newly collected trash out of said collection bin and into said storage bin. At least one sensor is placed proximate the collection bin for detecting radiation. If radiological waste is placed into the collection bin of the trash collection truck, the sensor detects the presence of the radiological material and activates an alarm indicator. The alarm indicator warns the operators of the trash collection truck that radiological waste is present.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2005Date of Patent: February 12, 2008Inventors: Thomas Lombardo, Armando Arzuaga, Jr.

Patent number: 5294194Abstract: The present invention is a catch container for retaining debris or other materials wiped from the edge of a work surface. The present invention catch container includes a receptacle structure, a mounting bracket adjustably attached to the receptacle structure, and a sloped surface descending toward the receptacle from the mounting bracket. The present invention catch container is mounted under a work surface so that debris displaced from the work surface lands upon the sloped surface. The sloped surface then guides the debris into the receptacle without slashing or spillage.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1992Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Inventor: Thomas Lombardo
