  • Patent number: 10448943
Abstract: A method of reinforcing a biological construct according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, attaching a suture loop/needle construct to a reinforcement material and stitching the reinforcement material to a biological construct to form a reinforced biological construct. The reinforcement material is attached to the suture loop/needle construct prior to approximating the reinforcement material to the biological construct.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 4, 2015
Date of Patent: October 22, 2019
    Assignee: ARTHREX, INC.
Inventors: James J. Guerra, Jacob A. Jolly, Dustin T. Libby, Thomas M. Deberardino

  • Patent number: 9326844
Abstract: Techniques and reconstruction systems for fixation of bone to bone, or soft tissue to bone, that allow a double-bundle type construct with only three tunnels, a single graft and individual tensioning in each of the three tunnels. Alternative double-bundle ACL/PCL fixation techniques are provided that employ a double-bundle type construct with only a single graft and three tunnels/sockets. The double-bundle ACL and PCL techniques and constructs allow individual tensioning of each of the bundles (e.g., tensioning of each of the anteromedial (AM) and posterolateral (PL) bundles of the ACL) and eliminate the need for additional fixation devices (for example, interference screws) to secure the bundles within the bone tunnels/sockets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 2014
Date of Patent: May 3, 2016
    Assignee: Arthrex, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20160100931
Abstract: Instruments, implants and methods to concomitantly perform unicompartmental knee resurfacing and cruciate ligament reconstruction procedures. Unicondylar knee resurfacing is conducted with concomitant knee ligament reconstruction (such as, for example, GraftLink® All-Inside ACL Reconstruction using TightRope® ABS) and employing retrograde drilling. Retrograde drilling, which starts at the level of the resurfacing implants and travels away from the joint line and resurfacing implants, allows for more precise placement of the drill holes and also the drill trajectory, to avoid undermining the resurfacing implants. Retrograde drills also allow the surgeon to see the drill hole footprint at the joint line and resurfacing implant level more accurately, so the surgeon can place the starting point of the drill hole away from the resurfacing implants.

  • Patent number: 9168124
Abstract: Surgical constructs and methods for tissue to bone repair employing a tissue construct reinforced with a reinforcement (reinforcing) material such as suture, tape, weave or mesh, among many others. The reinforced construct preferably includes a stitched reinforced region formed by employing a suture loop construct with a free floating needle that is attached to the suture loop, and also with a piece of material (a reinforcement or reinforcing material) attached to the suture loop. The reinforced construct may be attached to any fixation device and/or any bone tunnel.
