    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a last chance screen for an aircraft engine includes forming an array of holes through a metal sheet with a wire electrode using electrical discharge machining. The array of holes comprises a plurality of holes. Each hole of the plurality of holes comprises a first end and a second end and is surrounded by a wall section such that the last chance screen is defined by the plurality of holes and the plurality of wall sections. The first and second end of each hole are widened by either applying a flow of an abrasive flow medium to the array of holes in two directions or using a conical sinker electrode on either side of the metal sheet. Shaping the first and second end of each hole results in an airfoil-shaped cross-section of each wall section.

    Abstract: A system and method are provided to reduce the effect of an interfering signal in a radar return signal for a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. Once the interfering signal is detected, an extent of the interfering signal is determined and the data that was corrupted by the interfering signal is not included in the processing of the radar return signal. This allows the radar to detect a target in the presence of the interfering signal. The system and method can benefit any FMCW radar that is within the range of an interfering radar source (e.g. another FMCW radar, a police radar gun, a pulse radar, etc.) operating in the same frequency band as the FMCW radar. An alternative arrangement provides a system and method for determining the frequency of the interfering signal and then avoiding transmitting power in that portion of the frequency spectrum where the interfering signal is present.

    Abstract: A multiple, superposed-channel, solid-state, color image sensor of the "parallel transfer" type includes a plurality of superposed generally "ladder shaped" channels in a semiconductor substrate. One "side rail" of the ladder shape provides the channel structure for a multiple, superposed-channel signal handling device, such as a charge coupled shift register. The "rungs" of the ladder shape provide a plurality of multiple, superposed-channel color image sensing sites, and the other "side rail" of the ladder shape provides a plurality of superposed "anti-bloom" drains, one drain per channel. Electrical contact to a buried channel is provided by a V-groove etching technique. A V-groove extending from the surface of the device into the buried channel provides physical access to the buried channel. A conductor, in ohmic contact with the channel, extends from the bottom of the V-groove to the surface of the device to provide electrical contact with the buried channel.

    Abstract: A device for temporarily supporting a wall in an upright position during construction of a building is provided by a first and second collapsible triangular supporting structure having a common flexible cable base extending through the thickness of the wall. The first triangular structure includes a pair of flexible cable members connected at their upper ends to wall-engaging members in proximity to the top of the wall and secured to opposite sides of the wall. The second triangular structure includes a pair of rigid tubular strut members connected to wall engaging members at a point approximately midway between the top of the wall and the base and secured to opposite sides of the wall. A pair of ground plates connected to the bottom of the struts support the first and second triangular structures on the ground.
