  • Patent number: 7013037
Abstract: A technique for selectively processing data from a digital detector includes determining an image area produced by orientation of a radiation source assembly. The assembly may include a radiation source and a collimator, which may be separately orientable. The image area is computed based upon the orientation of the radiation source assembly that projects a radiation beam towards an imaging plane. Image data from a detector within the imaging plane is selectively processed to improve computational efficiency. The system may also determine whether the image area falls within the imaging surface of the detector and inform an operator or inhibit an exposure if such is not the case.

  • Patent number: 7003145
Abstract: A technique for selectively processing data from a digital detector includes determining an asymmetrical image area produced by orientation of a radiation source assembly.

  • Patent number: 6393100
Abstract: Collimator apparatus is provided for an X-ray imaging system comprising an X-ray tube disposed to project an X-ray beam, and a detector spaced apart from the X-ray tube for receiving X-rays of the beam within an Active Imaging Area (AIA). The apparatus comprises a first collimator positioned along the path of the beam, the first collimator being vertically adjustable, and being operable to symmetrically collimate the beam. The apparatus further comprises a second collimating device positioned between the first collimator and the detector. The second collimating device limits the uppermost rays of the symmetrically collimated beam which reach the detector to a predetermined upper boundary. Thus, the second collimating device serves to fix the upper edge of the AIA on the detector.

  • Patent number: 6302580
Abstract: A radiographic imaging system including a solid state x-ray imager is disclosed. An x-ray tube is supported in a vertical x-ray tube support system alternately or in addition to a overhead angulating x-ray tube support system. A solid state x-ray imager is supported in a wall stand alternately or in addition to an angulating table stand. Associated sensors sense the position of the solid state x-ray imager, and a position controller adjusts the position of the x-ray tube such that the x-ray tube is positioned at the center of the solid state x-ray imager. Readout circuitry receives the analog image from the solid state x-ray imager and transmits the corresponding digital information to a digital processor for image creation or manipulation. The digital image may than be displayed on a digital imager acquisition and display system.
