  • Publication number: 20240147243
Abstract: An embodiment includes a method to increase the efficiency of security checkpoint operations. A security checkpoint kiosk serves as a Relying Party System (RPS). The RPS establishes a secure local connection between the RPS and a User Mobile-Identification-Credential Device (UMD). The RPS sends a user information request to the UMD, via the secure local connection, seeking release of user information associated with a Mobile Identification Credential (MIC). The RPS obtains authentication of the user information received in response to the user information request. The RPS retrieves user travel information based on the user information. The RPS determines that the user travel information matches the user information. When the user travel information matches the user information, the RPS approves the user to proceed past the security checkpoint kiosk.

  • Patent number: 9598642
Abstract: A method of measuring and controlling a temperature distribution at a member is disclosed. A probe is placed proximate the member. The probe has a plurality of longitudinally-spaced reflective elements. An ultrasonic pulse is generated at a selected location of the probe so as to propagate along the probe. Reflected pulses are received at the selected location from the plurality of longitudinally-spaced reflective elements. The distribution of temperature at the member is determined from the reflected pulses. The determined distribution of temperature may be used in controlling the temperature of the member. The member may be a solid or fluid.

  • Patent number: 9241478
Abstract: A feeder for larval and juvenile fishes is capable of delivering an adjustable dose of microparticulate feed to selected locations, via pneumatic conveyance and control. A source of low-pressure dry gas is used to blow microparticulate feed through a manifold and into a selected one of a number of tubes. In order to adjust the portion dispensed by the feeder, an adjustable portion control is provided. Instead of a fixed sized ration cup a threaded recess is provided. Within the recess is provided a mating nylon set screw with an Allen hex head socket. By screwing the set screw in, or out, a user may increase, or decrease the volume of each dose.

  • Patent number: 9113615
Abstract: A feeder for larval and juvenile fishes is capable of delivering a small (ca. 15 mg) precise dose of microparticulate (ca. 100 ?m diameter) feed to selected locations, via pneumatic conveyance and control. A source of low-pressure dry gas is used to blow microparticulate feed through a manifold and into a selected one of a number of tubes. A terminal valve at the end of the tube is selectively activated to send the feed to a selected tank or pond. When not in use, the feeder is sealed, and the feed protected from moisture and ambient oxygen.

  • Patent number: 8674642
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring partial discharge within a remotely located and inaccessible electric motor. One embodiment comprises a downhole electric motor of an electric submersible pump system positioned in a well. The motor includes a partial discharge monitoring system coupled to the motor's power terminals. The partial discharge monitoring system includes a filter subsystem, a processing subsystem, and a communication subsystem. The filter subsystem allows higher frequency signals to pass from the terminals to the processing subsystem. The processing subsystem identifies signal constituents that are associated with partial discharge, and may perform various types of processing or analysis of the signal received from the processing subsystem. The partial discharge information generated by the processing subsystem is passed to the communication subsystem, which communicates the information to remotely located surface equipment.

  • Publication number: 20130187496
Abstract: An apparatus and method for connecting an electrical cable having multiple conductors to a submersible pump. A terminal housing defines at least one bore for sealingly engaging a sealing element through which the electrical cable passes. The first sealing element engages the outer jacket of the electrical cable. A gland secured to the terminal housing urges the first sealing element into sealing contact with the terminal housing bore. A second sealing element carried by the housing includes bores for receiving the individual conductors. A pressing element urges the second element into sealing engagement with the terminal housing and the outside surfaces of the conductors. Each individual conductor of a cable terminates in a connector that is releasably connectable to a corresponding mating connector in the submersible pump. The connectors are inter-engageable to form a unitary connector that is easily released from the wiring in the submersible pump.

A rotatable impeller operatively coupled to a drive motor includes a plurality of vane structures integrally formed with a shroud. Each vane structure includes a curved, axial vane segment extending axially from the shroud. A compound, multi-step auxiliary vane extends transversely from each axial vane segment. The auxiliary vane or wing includes at least first and second sections, with the second section overlying the first section in a staggered configuration such that the trailing edges of the first and second sections are spaced apart to form a step. The second auxiliary vane section includes an axial surface that also forms a working vane surface for the auxiliary vane.

At least two pump vanes extend axially from the shroud, each of the vanes configured as a blunted tear drop shape and having an inside wall and an outside wall, the leading edges of which are interconnected by a blunt wall. The trailing edges of the inside and outside walls merge together. A substantially constant width flow channel is defined between the blunted wall of one vane and a confronting surface defined by an inside wall of the other vane. The vanes are tapered in the axial directions by inclining the inside wall of each vane radially outwardly.
