  • Patent number: 5843282
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus to produce layers of material, such as paper, carton or cardboard, under use of at least one roll that can be heated in a controlled manner, in particular a dryer cylinder, with tubing attached to the end of the roll that supplies the energy necessary to heat up the roll. Bearings at both ends of the roll are mounted to a seating structure. One of the bearings is a freely carrying bearing and the steam supply is rigidly attached to the seating structure.

  • Patent number: 5315630
Abstract: A body part such as a patient's head is positioned for treatment purposes by holding a treatment point defined relative to marks attached to the body part is held in a desired position. To this end, at least two picture signal generating sensors are aligned to observe the marks. A picture processing device for processing the pictures of the marks is provided to define marker points, which are determined by the marks and define the actual position of the body part. Furthermore, a signal processing and control device is provided for computing the actual position from the observed positions of the marker points, for comparing the actual position with a desired position and for generating actuating signals, which depend on the error between actual position and desired position. The actuating signals are applied to actuators, which engage the body part. Thereby the treatment point can be returned to the desired position, if it has deviated therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4194388
Abstract: The instant invention relates to a device for testing the end buckling strength of a can body wherein a uniquely disposed compressible ring- or doughnut-like member of appropriate elastic material is adapted to be compressed against the inside surface of a metal or container for the purpose of sealing the interior of the metal can from the atmosphere. The sealed interior of the can is then subjected to appropriate fluid or air pressure to determine the buckling characteristics of the can's closed end structure, after which the can body can be released from the testing device in an improved fashion.
