  • Patent number: 10606016
Abstract: A cable spool includes first and second curved flanges extending radially outwardly from first and second axial ends of a drum. The flanges have outer edges that cooperate to define an annular slot providing access to a passageway surrounding the drum. The slot has a width that is less than half the height of the drum. A cable is wrapped around the drum. A closure having an environmentally sealed interior may receive an end of the cable. A second cable can be deployed from a second spool and coupled to the end of the cable within the closure. The second spool can be mounted with the cable spool. A cover can be placed over the spools for aesthetic or protection reasons.

  • Patent number: 10585258
Abstract: A fiber optic cassette includes a housing with a base and a cover. The base defines an open front between first and second sidewalls, which transition into first and second curved rear wall portions. The first and second curved rear wall portions define an adapter mount therebetween forming at least one pocket. A signal entry location defined by at least one MPO adapter is positioned within the pocket and defines an exterior port and an interior port. A fiber optic cable connectorized by an MPO format connector is mated to the exterior port. An adapter block defining a plurality of second fiber optic adapters is mounted to the base via a first snap-fit interlock to close the open front, each second fiber optic adapter including an exterior port and an interior port.

Abstract: A break-out assembly includes an enclosure defining a first port at the first end to receive an optical cable and a second port at the second end to receive a plurality of break-out cables. Each port leads to the interior of the enclosure. A cable retention region defined within the enclosure at the second end is configured to enable the break-out cables to each secure to the enclosure at one of a plurality of axial locations. Certain types of break-out assemblies include other cable retention regions to axially and/or rotationally secure the optical cable to the enclosure. A splice retention region is disposed within the enclosure between the first port and the second cable retention region. • Publication number: 20190187382
Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a diagnostic method for testing continuity along an optical fiber. The method can include a step of mounting a dust cap to an optical port where the dust cap includes a self-powered light for testing an optical fiber line. The method further includes a step of activating the self-powered light of the dust cap to shine a light along the optical fiber line and determining whether the light is visible downstream of the optical fiber line. The present disclosure also relates to a dust cap for an optical fiber connector in an optical system. The dust cap can be adapted to cover an end of the optical fiber connector. The dust cap includes a self-generating light source for testing connections in the optical system.

  • Publication number: 20190187388
Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a fiber optic communications network that includes a loop back connector in conjunction with one or more distribution devices daisy chained together to index optical fibers within the network. The network includes a central office that sends signals in one direction. The loop back connector can be mounted at the end of the chain to allow un-used live indexing optical fibers corresponding to active fiber positions to be looped back to feed signals to dead indexing optical fibers corresponding to inactive fiber positions. The dead indexing optical fibers can be optically connected to progressively dropped fibers or reverse ports in the indexed network.
