  • Patent number: 6703118
Abstract: A printing form for rotary screen printing is provided and includes a thin-walled hollow cylinder made from fiber-reinforced plastics material, the cylinder wall of which is provided with continuous printing openings which define an image which is to be printed. The cylinder includes at least one layer having fibers with at least one oriented direction of the fibers. Multi-layer laminates made from carbon/epoxy having at least one layer with an oriented direction of the fibers which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of printing form are preferred.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 2002
Date of Patent: March 9, 2004
    Assignee: Stork Screens B.V.
Inventors: Karst Jan van Weperen, Norbertus Franciscus Jacobus Elemans, Thomas Maria Jonkers
  • Patent number: 6699548
Abstract: A thin-walled hollow cylinder is made from fiber-reinforced plastics material, the cylinder wall of which is composed of at least one layer having fibers with at least one oriented direction of the fibers, and the total wall thickness dtot lying in the range from 10 to 1000 &mgr;m, and the ratio dtot/D being≦0.0025. The oriented direction(s) of the fibers are selected depending on the intended final application. Examples include, inter alia, multi-layer laminates made from carbon/epoxy, used for the production of a cylinder of this nature, having at least one layer with an oriented direction of the fibers which is parallel or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20020148371
Abstract: A method for producing a printing forme with printing openings which define an image which is to be printed comprises the steps of determining the contours of the image which is to be printed, positioning contour printing openings in accordance with the determined contours on the contour lines or at a predetermined, fixed distance therefrom, in a preform of the printing forme. If desired, additional printing openings may be provided within the area which is delimited by the contour printing openings. When a printing forme which has been produced in this way is used, a very sharply defined image is printed.
