  • Publication number: 20170300826
Abstract: An individual having a plurality of first features and a second characteristic is identified. A plurality of second features associated with a second characteristic is determined. For each first feature among the plurality of first features, a respective probability distribution indicating, for each respective second feature, a probability that a person having the respective second feature has the first feature, is determined, thereby generating a plurality of probability distributions. A probabilistic classifier is used to combine the plurality of probability distributions, thereby generating a merged probability distribution. A Monte Carlo method is used to generate a prediction set based on the merged probability distribution, the prediction set including a plurality of prediction values for the second characteristic of the individual, each respective prediction value being associated with one of the plurality of second features. The prediction set is stored in a memory.

Abstract: An actuation configuration including a baffle having an opening, a plug comprising a plug material extrudable into the opening and compactable therein to hold a differential across the baffle. A borehole system including a housing, a seat in the housing presenting an opening, a plug comprising a plug material extrudable into the opening and compactable therein to hold a differential across seat. A method for treating a borehole including running a plug onto a baffle, extruding plug material into an opening of the baffle, compacting the plug material in the opening to support a target differential pressure across the baffle, and actuating a borehole tool. A method for treating a borehole including running a deformable plug through a restriction, landing the plug on a seat having an opening, compacting material of the deformable plug into the opening to support a differential pressure thereacross, actuating a borehole tool.

  • Patent number: 9415371
Abstract: A multi-phase reactor system for performing multi-phase reactions is disclosed. The reactor system includes a reaction vessel having a slinger device (100) mounted on a centrally positioned agitator shaft (102) proximal to an operative top of the reaction vessel. The slinger device (100) comprises a holding means defined by a vertical circumferential plate (108) and a cover plate (107) for at least partially encasing the agitator shaft (102) to define a space for collecting a liquid. The holding means comprise at least one spraying means including spray pipes (106) for distributing the liquid on an inner wall of the reaction vessel by a projectile trajectory path on rotation of the agitator shaft. A concave blade (104) may be positioned over the cover plate (107) for preventing overflow of the liquid from the holding means and forming an umbrella of the flowing liquid to effect scrubbing of the vapors and off-gas.

  • Publication number: 20160103708
Abstract: System and method for executing one or more tasks in data processing is disclosed. Data is received from at least one channel from multiple channels. The data is received in order to generate a corresponding result. A set of tasks is generated. The set of tasks is generated to process the data so received. The tasks receive the data as an input argument for generating the corresponding result. A worker node from a plurality of worker node is selected for executing the set of task in a pipeline. An idle worker node from the plurality of worker node is selected for executing the set of tasks. The set of task is executed by the selected worker nodes in order to generate the corresponding result. The results are stored for a predefined time in the system.

  • Patent number: 8800649
Abstract: The annular space around a tubular string has a shape memory material that is in a low profile configuration for run in. After the desired position is obtained and the annulus has cement delivered to fill the annular space, the shape memory device is triggered to revert to an original shape that spans the annulus to seal the tubular and the wellbore sides of the annular space against gas migration through the cement. The structures can have varying run in shapes and can also have original shapes that when the material is triggered will act to displace cement to enhance its compaction on the tubular or the wellbore wall. Combinations of shape memory alloys and polymers are also contemplated to enhance the seal against gas migration.

  • Patent number: 8698718
Abstract: A display device is provided that comprises a liquid crystal display panel for displaying an image by spatial light modulation, and circuitry for switching liquid crystal in the panel between having a first configuration in a first mode to cause an image displayed using the panel to be discernible from a wide range of viewing angles, and having a second configuration in a second mode to cause an image displayed using the panel to be discernible substantially only from within a narrow range of viewing angles. Several types of display panel to achieve such in-panel switching between public and private viewing modes are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130268534
Abstract: This apparatus provides a system and method of determining significant repeating themes in a collection of documents. The apparatus operates unsupervised and leverages a natural language processing mechanism supported with lexicon, synonym and taxonomy dictionaries to determine themes and establish their relevance using a two-level hierarchical structure. The apparatus also assigns meaningful names to identified themes and determines a set of rules that describe the theme such that it can be applied to categorize other documents outside of the collection as well.
