  • Patent number: 5106519
Abstract: A conditioning additive for an oil-in-water emulsion metal working bath includes a copper-amine complex and may further include a molybdenum-amine complex. The complexes may comprise the reaction product of alkanolamines and salts of the metals. The additive may further include pH stabilizing agents, wetting agents, corrosion inhibitors, emulsifiers and surfactants. The additive inhibits microbial growth, stabilizes the emulsion, improves lubricity, prevents corrosion and improves the finish of parts produced therewith.

  • Patent number: 4514325
Abstract: This invention relates to water based and water dilutable compositions containing about 5 to 20% by weight of water insoluble lipophilic organic solvents and a coupling agent comprising a compound having the formula ##STR1## where R--(CH.sub.2).sub.n is the residue of a sulfonated monounsaturated C.sub.12 to C.sub.18 fatty acid having the C--S attachment in one of the carbon atoms of the residue and M is an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or amine, the weight ratio of solvent to coupling agent being from about 1:1 to 2:1. The composition is useful for metal cleaning, rust removing and phosphatizing.

  • Patent number: 4404181
Abstract: Extended-life aqueous tissue fixative compositions or solutions are provided for use in histopathology work and the like. The compositions include glutaraldehyde at controlled pH, a boric acidtetraborate buffer, buffer stabilizer and complexing agent. The compositions, which also may include a compatible surfactant, and their method of application enable efficient fixing such that the treated tissues have low artifactual color and good texture and may readily be sectioned and accurately stained.
