Publication number: 20080021098Abstract: A method of simultaneously preventing the growth of fungi on substrates, particularly those exposed to an atmosphere, and imparting thereto a desired odour, by applying thereto a fragrance whose fragrant properties are derived mainly from the presence in the fragrance of at least two fragrance components selected from the group consisting of certain selected cyclic aldehydes, cyclic alcohols, branched or unbranched linear aldehydes, branched or unbranched linear alcohols, phenols and lactones. The method is particularly effective in supplying the necessary fragrance and antifungal properties in the vapour phase, thus avoiding any potentially harmful or damaging contact with liquid preparations.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2005Publication date: January 24, 2008Applicant: GIVAUDAN SAInventors: Thomas McGee, Andreas Natsch

Publication number: 20070290066Abstract: An apparatus for the dissemination of volatile liquid into an atmosphere comprises a reservoir containing the liquid, and a porous evaporative member that extends from the liquid into the atmosphere, the reservoir being directly open to the atmosphere only by a pressure equalisation vent, which vent is equipped with closing means that obstructs the vent to an increasing degree with increasing atmosphere temperature, optionally closing it completely. The apparatus thus reduces considerably the excessive loss of fragrance encountered in atmospheres that can get very hot, for example, automobile interiors.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2004Publication date: December 20, 2007Applicant: GIVAUDAN SAInventors: Thomas McGee, Colin Brown

Publication number: 20070252017Abstract: An apparatus adapted to disseminate volatile liquid into an atmosphere from a reservoir, the transfer to atmosphere being achieved by means of a porous transfer member that transfers liquid from the reservoir to an evaporation surface. The evaporation surface is a capillary sheet substantially transversely from the transfer member, and being further characterized in that the material of the sheet is a plastics material having a Shore D hardness of from around 50 to 80 and a thickness of from 0.75-1.25 mm. These sheets make especially good liquid transfer contact with the transfer member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2004Publication date: November 1, 2007Applicant: Givaudan SAInventors: Thomas McGee, Richard Sgaramella, Colin Brown, Guy Naish

Publication number: 20070080716Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a hot plug bus slot on a bus has an input for receiving a set of float signals (i.e., the set may have one or more float signals), and a driver having an output electrically couplable with the bus. The apparatus also has float logic operatively coupled with the input. The float logic is responsive to the set of float signals to cause the output to float at a high impedance in response to receipt of the set of float signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2005Publication date: April 12, 2007Applicant: Silicon Graphics, Inc.Inventors: Bruce Strangfeld, Thomas McGee

Patent number: 7170566Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for detecting commercials or other particular types of video content in a video signal. In an illustrative embodiment, color histograms are extracted from frames of the video signal. For each of at least a subset of the extracted color histograms, the extracted color histogram is compared to a family histogram. If the extracted color histogram falls within a specified range of the family histogram, the family histogram is updated to include the extracted color histogram as a new member. If the extracted color histogram does not fall within the specified range of the family histogram, the family histogram is considered complete and the extracted color histogram is utilized to generate a new family histogram for use in processing subsequent extracted color histograms. The resulting family histograms are utilized to detect commercials or other particular type of video content in the video signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2001Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Thomas McGee, Lalitha Agnihotri, Nevenka Dimitrova, Radu Serban Jasinschi

Publication number: 20060291974Abstract: A nut insert which is installed within an aperture in a workpiece, the nut insert of the type in which a portion of the insert plastically deforms on the one side of the workpiece upon application of a linear force provided by a tool, thereby preventing withdrawal of the insert from the aperture. The nut insert comprises a sleeve member and an integral flange, where the flange has a larger diameter than the aperture, and the flange further comprises a contact surface for abutting the workpiece. The insert comprises fusible contact members which are adapted to fuse to the workpiece upon activation of the installation system, which includes current generation means.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2005Publication date: December 28, 2006Inventors: Thomas McGee, Frank Neri

Patent number: 7143353Abstract: A method, apparatus and systems for bookmarking an area of interest of stored video content is provided. As a viewer is watching a video and finds an area of interest, they can bookmark the particular segment of the video and then return to that segment with relative simplicity. This can be accomplished by pressing a button, clicking with a mouse or otherwise sending a signal to a device for marking a particular location of the video that is of interest. Frame identifiers can also be used to select a desired video from an index and to then retrieve the video from a medium containing multiple videos.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2001Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics, N.V.Inventors: Thomas McGee, Lalitha Agnihotri, Nevenka Dimitrova, Radu Jasinschi

Patent number: 7110047Abstract: A video indexing system analyzes contents of source video and develops a visual table of contents using selected images. A system for detecting significant scenes detects video cuts from one scene to another, and static scenes based on DCT coefficients and macroblocks. A keyframe filtering process filters out less desired frames including, for example, unicolor frames, or those frames having a same object as a primary focus or one primary focuses. Commercials may also be detected and frames of commercials eliminated. The significant scenes and static scenes are detected based on a threshold which is set based on the category of the video.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2002Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Thomas McGee, Nevenka Dimitrova, Jan Herman Elenbaas
