    Abstract: A temperature control system (TCS) and a subsurface intake assembly for a TCS for a building are provided herein. The subsurface intake assembly includes one or more subsurface intake units disposed within the ground and configured to receive subsurface air. An intermediate connection assembly receives the subsurface air from the intake units and directs the subsurface air to the TCS. In order to collect the subsurface air, each of the subsurface intake units include one or more openings into which the subsurface air can flow. In this manner, the subsurface air flows from a location external to the subsurface intake unit, into the subsurface intake unit through the one or more openings, to the intermediate connection assembly, and eventually to the TCS.

In one aspect, a composition for providing protection against electrical discharges (e.g., including lightning strikes) for composite structures includes a binder material capable of dispersing material structures therein and attaching to a surface of a substrate, and a plurality of pigment structures dispersed in the binder material. The pigment structures include a central layer including an electrically conducting material, and outer layers formed on the central layer, in which the outer layers include an optical absorber material or a dielectric material. The composition, when attached to the substrate, is capable of providing electrically conductive paths to transfer electrical current from a multi kiloamp electrical discharge within the composition.

    Abstract: A system and method for ranking search results based on a series of attributes derived from the behavior of past searchers is disclosed. The attributes provide a measure of the relevancy between a search query and a URL, file, or other resource based on its relevancy to prior users. The system comprises (1) an attribute database including a plurality of prior search terms or phases; a first set of resources associated with each of the queries; and the attributes, i.e., metrics, characterizing the relevance of the first set of resources to the queries; and (2) a search processor adapted to identify a second set of resources determined to be relevant to a user query; rank each of the second set of resources based on the metrics associated with the query and resource; and provide the user with the search results ranked in accordance the metrics and displayed in a manner to increase the utility of the results for the user.
