  • Patent number: 9605556
Abstract: A power station (10) is provided having a turbine shafting (11) including a gas turbine (12) and a generator (18) which is driven directly by the gas turbine (12), produces alternating current at an operating frequency and whose output is connected to an electrical grid (21) with a predetermined grid frequency. An electronic decoupling apparatus or a variable electronic gearbox (27) is arranged between the generator (18) and the electrical grid (21), and decouples the operating frequency from the grid frequency.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 28, 2017
    Assignee: General Electric Company
    Inventors: Jürgen Hoffmann, Thomas Meindl
  • Patent number: 8796874
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a power station (10) with turbine shafting (11) including a gas turbine (12) and a generator (18) that is driven directly by the gas turbine (12) and that generates alternating current with an operating frequency. The output of the generator is connected to an electrical grid (21) with a given grid frequency. An electronic decoupling apparatus or variable electronic gearbox (27) is arranged between the generator (18) and the grid (21). The decoupling apparatus decouples the operating frequency from the grid frequency. In the event of a temporary over-frequency or under-frequency event in the electrical grid (21), the mechanical rotational speed of the gas turbine (12) is decreased more than the grid frequency during an under-frequency event of the electrical grid (21) and is increased more than the grid frequency during an over-frequency event of the electrical grid (21).

Abstract: A method is provided for operating a power station (10), with turbine shafting (11), that includes a gas turbine (12) and a generator (18) driven directly by the gas turbine (12) and that generates alternating current with an operating frequency, the output of the generator is connected with an electrical grid (21) with given grid frequency. An electronic decoupling apparatus or variable electronic gearbox (27) is arranged between the generator (18) and the grid (21), the decoupling apparatus decouples the operating frequency from the grid frequency. Increased service life of the station and reduced emissions are achieved in that, when there are longer-lasting changes in the grid frequency, the mechanical or aerodynamic rotational speed of the gas turbine (12) is kept constant and the output of the gas turbine (12) is adjusted without a delay.

  • Patent number: 8247919
Abstract: A combined-cycle power plant (10) has at least one power train (60) including a steam turbine (24) and a second generator (8) directly driven by the steam turbine (24) and generating alternating current, the output of which generator is connected to a power grid (21) having a given grid frequency (F), and at least one power train (11) of a gas turbine (12) and a first generator (18) driven directly by the gas turbine (12) and generating alternating current with an operating frequency, the output of which generator is connected to a power grid (21) having a predetermined grid frequency. An electronic decoupling device or a variable electronic gear unit (27) decouples the operating frequency from the grid frequency and is arranged between the first generator (18) and the power grid (21). Such a plant allows both flexible steady-state operation with high overall efficiency as well as flexible transient operation.

  • Publication number: 20080217320
Abstract: A cooking appliance having a control strip, constituted of a series of touch-sensitive sensors, are known for adjusting variables for a parameter of an item to be cooked, such as e.g. for the cooking time or the heating capacity levels. An adjustable variable is adjusted from a series of stored adjustable variables depending on the longitudinal position of a finger of a user guided on the control strip. In order to simplify operation of the control strip, the control strip, in at least one main mode of operation, is associated with a subsection of the series of adjustable variables from the entire series of adjustable variables.

  • Patent number: 5531565
Abstract: In an axial-flow compressor, the appliance for extracting secondary air using a peripheral extraction slot which is at least partially configured as a diagonal diffuser is such that means which make it possible to utilize the kinetic energy of the peripheral component of the flow velocity are arranged in or directly at the extraction slot (4). These can, for example, be a mini-cascade (7) integrated in the extraction slot (4) or an extraction slot (4) which is designed as a diagonal diffuser (8) and merges into a volute (9), the volute (9) opening directly into the extraction tube (6). The total pressure loss is minimized and the efficiency of the installation is increased by these arrangements.
