  • Publication number: 20050122018
Abstract: A light emitting assembly includes a metal substrate for dissipating heat from the assembly. The metal substrate includes an electrically insulating layer or coating on at least one side. Circuit traces are applied to the electrically insulating layer using either thick or thin film techniques. At least the ends of the circuit traces include a metallic section to which leads of light emitting elements are soldered or wire-bonded. A metallic section is provided adjacent the light emitting element to transfer heat to the underlying substrate and/or to reflect light from the element away from the substrate. A clear finish retards tarnishing of the reflecting metallic section.

  • Publication number: 20050027084
Abstract: The preparation of vinyl halide monomer, and further to polyvinyl halide, starting from C1 compounds, involving conversion of methane or methanol to methyl halide; condensation of methyl halide to ethylene and co-product hydrogen halide; oxidative halogenation of ethylene to vinyl halide monomer; separation of vinyl halide monomer from any methyl halide present in the vinyl halide monomer stream; optional recycling of the methyl halide recovered to the condensation step; and recovery and optional recycling of the co-product hydrogen halide. Optionally, the vinyl halide monomer may be polymerized to polyvinyl halide to facilitate separation of the monomer from methyl halide. Methyl halide may be obtained via oxidative halogenation of methane in the presence of a rare earth halide or rare earth oxyhalide catalyst. Optionally, the methyl halide may be converted to methanol.

  • Patent number: 6685785
Abstract: A belt (1), and a method of forming a belt (1), with at least one row of teeth (5) formed on at least one surface of the betling (1). To improve the tooth formation of the belting (1), and the abrasion of the belting (1), the outer surface of the teeth (4) are formed with the disclosed bi-directional stretch woven fabric (7). The warp (10) and weft (11) yarns are formed of a core yarn (12) about which is helically wrapped at least one yarn (13 or 14), forming a scaffold construction. The bi-directional stretch characteristics of the fabric (7) permit greater deformation of the fabric (7) while forming the belt teeth (5).

  • Patent number: 5641249
Abstract: This invention is an aggregate extruder for the deposition of a multi-layered aggregate bed having layers of differing aggregate material. The extruder is divided into three sections transversely disposed over a defined surface, each of the sections contains a different aggregate material. A front grading baffle is mounted behind a front panel extending intermediate side panels forming the front dispensing section. A second grading baffle is mounted between the first and rear grading baffles forming the middle dispensing section, behind the front dispensing section, and a rear dispensing section. The extruder is self-propelled by a hydraulically operated ram mounted to each side panel. A panel is mounted to the rear of each side panel of the hopper and extends rearward thereof to define channel within which aggregate is maintained as the hopper moves along the surface. When the ram is activated it extends rearward for engagement with a form, and pushes the extruder along the defined surface.

  • Patent number: 5399678
Abstract: A simplified method for making the chloromethyl ester of sulbactam in which the tetraalkylammonium sulbactam salt is not dried and isolated prior to alkylation. The method comprises reacting a tetraalkylammonium salt and a sulbactam salt in an aqueous solution to form an aqueous solution of tetraalkylammonium sulbactam. The tetraalkylammonium sulbactam is extracted into bromochloromethane or iodochloromethane, and water is removed from the organic layer to enhance the formation of the chloromethyl ester of sulbactam. The tetraalkylammonium sulbactam is reacted with bromochloromethane or iodochloromethane in the organic layer to form the chloromethyl ester of sulbactam.

  • Patent number: 4643211
Abstract: The collapsible walking frame for use by an invalid comprises a pair of interconnected spaced side frames (10, 12) each including a front member (14) having a handgrip (18) and a rear member (24) pivotally connected to the front member (14). A seat (28) pivotally connected between the front members (14) is movable from an inoperative vertical position to an operative horizontal position. The seat (28) is horizontally supported in the operative position on rear brace (26) and held in the vertical position by being fastened to front brace (22). The front and rear members of the side frames are stably supported in the operative position of the frame by pivotal locking side braces (27) which permit pivotal folding of the frame to the inoperative storage position.
