    Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally related to a method and apparatus for scanning a v-bank filter. In one embodiment, an apparatus for scanning a v-bank filter includes a hollow body having first and second ends. An outlet, formed at the second end of the body, is adapted for coupling a testing device to an interior volume of the body. A plurality of holes are formed through the body and are fluidly coupled to the interior volume. In another embodiment, a method for scanning a v-bank filter includes inserting a probe having a plurality of sample ports into a filter adjacent a filter pack, and traversing the probe along the filter pack. In yet another embodiment, a method for scanning a v-bank filter includes scanning a slot of a v-bank filter with a probe, and collecting samples of gas passing through the filter an into the probe.

In one embodiment, a method for testing a v-bank filter includes providing an aerosol challenge to an upstream side of a v-bank filter, scanning a downstream side of the v-bank filter with a probe having one or more rectangular sample ports, and providing samples taken through the probe during scanning to a test instrument. In yet another embodiment, a probe for scanning a v-bank filter is provided that includes a body having a plurality of rectangular sample ports. Each sample port is tapered to a port configured to connect to a sample tube. The long sides of the rectangular sample ports are arranged in a stacked parallel orientation.

    Abstract: A filter housing assembly for exhaust applications and method of testing the same is provided. In one embodiment, the filter housing assembly includes a housing having a filter receiving aperture, a first air flow port configured to couple the housing to an exhaust system and a second air flow port sized to deliver a flow capable of providing at least 75 feet per minute of air flow through the filter receiving aperture. A filter element is sealingly disposed in the filter receiving aperture of the housing. A cap is provided that operably seals the second air flow port when not in use. In another embodiment, a method for testing a filter housing assembly for exhaust applications includes providing air through a filter element disposed in the housing in a direction opposite an operational air flow direction, leak testing the filter element from a roomside of the filter element, and, flowing air through the filter element after leak testing in the operational direction.

    Abstract: A powder metal (P/M) mill product and the method of fabrication such product made out of low oxygen (<400 ppm) refractory metal, or alloys thereof, using oxide additive (such as MgO, SiO2, and Y2O3) for co-fabrication to achieve refractory metal grain size stabilization as required in high temperature applications. One such product is a sheet with small grain size containing oxide particles as grain size stabilizers. The product has good mechanical properties, low oxygen content in refractory metal fiber derivatives of the powder within the mill product and if is available as large pieces of sheet (lateral dimensions). The metal powder is consolidated to a sheet bar by different methods, which may weigh 50 pounds or more.
