Abstract: Computer implemented method, system and computer program product for searching for a class in a data processing system having classloaders organized in both a classloader hierarchy and a classloader network. A computer implemented method for searching for a class in a data processing system having classloaders organized in both a classloader hierarchy and a classloader network includes receiving a request to load a class at a request receiving classloader in the classloader hierarchy. The request to load a class is forwarded to a gateway classloader in the classloader network, wherein the gateway classloader is also in the classloader hierarchy. The requested class is then searched for in the classloader network.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, determine the classes that are needed during a first invocation of an application and preload those classes during a subsequent invocation of the application. In various embodiments, the classes may be preloaded if they are within a specified package, if they were needed greater than a threshold number of times, if the class path did not change between the first invocation and the subsequent invocation, or if the jar files the contain the classes are in a class path. In this way, an embodiment of the invention may increase the performance of class preloading.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a data processing system for identifying a shared resource usage violation in a data processing system is provided. A set of resources are assigned to a resource group. A usage policy is defined that is associated with the resource group. A usage state associated with a resource of the resource group is compared with a threshold defined by a policy associated with the resource group. A determination is made if usage of the resource is in violation of the policy.
