  • Patent number: 11511703
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed and include determining, using a processor configured to execute instructions stored in a nontransitory computer-readable medium, whether a user is authenticated to operate a vehicle-sharing vehicle. The method also includes, in response to determining the user is authenticated: (i) obtaining, using the processor, a height value, wherein the height value is associated with a vehicle-sharing account of the user and is displayed on an identification card of the user; (ii) determining, using the processor, whether a position of a vehicle control mechanism needs to be adjusted based on the height value; and (iii) in response to determining that the position of the vehicle control mechanism needs to be adjusted, adjusting, using the processor, the position of the vehicle control mechanism based on the height value.

  • Patent number: 10936889
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed and include obtaining image data from at least one camera located within a vehicle. The method also includes determining a behavior of an occupant based on the image data. The method also includes determining whether the behavior corresponds to a predetermined condition, which is associated with at least one of inhaling smoke, inhaling vapor, eating, and drinking. The method also includes generating, in response to the behavior corresponding to the predetermined condition, an alert corresponding to the predetermined condition. The method also includes transmitting the alert to a remote device.

  • Patent number: 7533202
Abstract: High-speed reliable parallel data transmission between a computer and a parallel peripheral is provided by a peripheral controller by way of a virtual parallel UART (VPU). The VPU provides a novel parallel interface for higher speed parallel interface operation. The VPU is included in the peripheral controller along with a conventional RS-232 UART. The peripheral-side interface of the peripheral controller provides full bidirectional handshaking with the parallel peripheral. The host-side interface of the peripheral controller provides a legacy serial port compatible interface. Mode information selectively configures operation in either a VPU (parallel) or a UART (serial) mode. Both modes appear identical to software executing on the computer, enabling the use of standard serial I/O drivers without modification, and providing transparent legacy mode compatibility even when the hardware is configured for VPU mode.

  • Publication number: 20070151214
Abstract: An air induction system for an engine to remove contaminants from intake air prior to delivery to the engine. The system includes an assembly for filtering air which is mounted in advance of the engine, and a duct for delivering air from the assembly to the engine. A sealing system is provided which prevents entry of unfiltered air while simultaneously permitting movement of the engine relative to adjacent parts of the airframe as engine power setting varies. The seal is protected from high pressures in the duct which can occur in operation of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20070137956
Abstract: A damper has a piston having an axis, an outer surface, and opposing ends. Elastomeric seals are in sealing contact with the outer surface of the piston, the seals being coaxial with the piston and limiting movement of the piston to a path along the axis of the piston. The seals also define fluid chambers adjacent the ends of the piston. A primary passage communicates the fluid chambers, and a selectively switchable valve for controls a flow of fluid from one of the chambers to another of the chambers through the primary passage. When the flow of fluid through the primary passage is permitted, movement of the piston is resisted by a first spring rate due to a shear force required to cause shear deflection of the seals. When the flow of fluid through the primary passage is restricted, movement of the piston is resisted by a second spring rate due to a fluid force required to cause bulging deflection of the seals.

  • Publication number: 20060242355
Abstract: The present invention permits deferring the final provisioning of the Card Information Structure (CIS) in the attribute memory space of expansion cards (or modules) for portable hosts. This enables expansion cards to be distributed, sold, and installed by their end-users prior to the final provisioning, which is performed during their initial use. A temporary default CIS image is provided that permits baseline functionality of the expansion card with a host device. Providing the default CIS data enables provisional installation and operation of the card in the host, including accessing the card by way of default card services and socket software layers, as provided in the standard software environment of the host. The provisional operation enables higher level software to program the final CIS values in the peripheral controller internal CIS data-structure, EEPROM on the card, or any combination of the two.

  • Patent number: 6055593
Abstract: The miniature card uses an Attribute Information Structure (AIS) for card recognition. The PC Card specification uses a Card Information Structure (CIS) for card recognition. The dual information structure definition provides a mechanism to allow a miniature card to be recognized and functional in both a PC Card environment and miniature card environment. The dual information structure mechanism incorporates the AIS structure into the CIS structure within the miniature card, thus allowing a card to be recognized and function in both environments.
