  • Patent number: 7209123
Abstract: A computer user interface device is provided, made up of modules having separate sets of user interface features. For instance, a keyboard device has a first module bearing standard alphanumeric and control keys, and a second module, selected from a set of optional modules bearing specialized features such as multimedia controls, communication interfaces, or magnetic media readers. The modules are mechanically coupled together. An electrical interface allows user input signals, such as keystroke signals, to be consolidated on one module, preferably the specialized module, into a single signal stream, for coupling to the computer.

  • Publication number: 20060272763
Abstract: A splicing assembly comprising a splicing plate having a structure defining at least two cutting grooves. A positioning marker is disposed on the splicing plate, and at least one clamping assembly is coupled to the splicing plate. A method for installing a roll of labels on a labeler comprising removing from the labeler a first core which supports a sheet having labels. The sheet is positioned on a support surface. A second core, which supports a sheet having labels, is positioned on the labeler. The sheet from the second core is disposed on top of the sheet from the first core after the latter has been disposed on a support surface. The sheets are subsequently cut and spliced. A method for splicing comprising cutting a pair of superimposed pliable substrates to produce a pair of residual pliable substrates which are subsequently spliced.

  • Publication number: 20050262385
Abstract: A storage subsystem such as an array of disk drives, method of managing disk drives in the storage subsystem and program product therefor. The storage subsystem may be a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) and the individual disks drives may be Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) capable drives. When one of the drives gives an indication of an impending failure, a disk image of the failing disk is built on an available spare disk. Once the image is complete, the failing disk may be replaced without down time for rebuilding a failed disk.
