  • Patent number: 7919268
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and kits for measuring enzyme activity in which the turbidity of a sample caused by cell components is minimized by particular additives. The methods include the steps of providing a cell suspension or a cell lysate containing cell components, adding a chromogenic substrate at the start of the enzyme reaction, adding a first additional substance to stop the enzyme reaction, and making a colorimetric measurement, wherein a second additional substance which reduces the light scattering and/or absorption caused by the cells or the cell components is added during or after termination of the enzyme reaction. In particular, a method is disclosed wherein the enzyme is lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and the first additional substance to stop the reaction is HCl.

  • Patent number: 5899150
Abstract: The grate element (1, 2) is made in three pieces in the sample embodiment, and consists of a central main part (10) and two side parts (11, 12) attached thereto. The main part (10) is pierced by parallel straight-line bores, which form the straight-line conduit sections. These straight-line conduit sections (13) are flow-connected with reversers (14) in the respective side parts (11, 12). The inlet (15) for the coolant fluid is located in the rear part of the grate element, whereas the outlet (16) is located in the head area (7) of the grate element. In the outlet (16) there is a temperature probe (17) for monitoring the temperature of the coolant fluid. The grate element head (7) has recesses (18) in its foot (8) which open downward, serving as air escape orifices for the primary air, which is supplied from beneath.

  • Patent number: 5676071
Abstract: A method and apparatus for introducing a liquid or gaseous treatment medium into a flue gas stream wherein a total adjustment value for controlling the amount of active substance in the treatment medium is generated by an actual value measurement of a flue gas component and a comparison with a set value, and the treatment medium is injected through a plurality of nozzles into the flue gas stream flowing through a flow chamber. The flow chamber is divided into a three-dimensional matrix of partial flow chambers, each of which comprises a nozzle and measuring devices for detecting the temperature and flow speed of the flue gas stream in the partial flow chambers. The active substance is injected with a constant volume flow of treatment medium in an amount determined by calculation of an individual adjustment value of active substance for each nozzle. The total of the individual partial adjustment values does not exceed the total adjustment value of the active substance.

  • Patent number: 5211926
Abstract: In order to recover or dispose of ammonia or ammonia compounds from mixtures of dust that occur during combustion processes, during subsequent gas cooling, or during subsequent gas scrubbing, the dust that is created is mixed in batches with water in a closed system at a temperature that is lower or equal to the temperature at which the dust leaves the combustion, cooling or scrubbing process, and the resulting vapors are drawn off in a vacuum.
