Patent number: 7871555Abstract: A method for producing a profiled bead made of a plastic, particularly of a polymer, on a piece, particularly on a window pane. In the method at least a partial portion of an edge region or lateral face region of a surface of the piece is brought into contact with a forming face. The plastic is deposited stuck to at least part of the periphery of a surface of the piece untouched by the forming face and the external dimensions of the profiled bead formed are also defined by the forming face. The forming face is pressed against the edge region or lateral face region of the fixed piece using a flat support, the shape of which can vary under the pressure of a fluid. This then gives a better matching of the forming face to the contour and to any dimensional discrepancies of the piece.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2002Date of Patent: January 18, 2011Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass FranceInventors: Thomas Orten, Thomas Bischof, Gerd Cornils

Patent number: 7250206Abstract: A window pane (1), in particular an automobile window pane, is adhesively bonded to a frame (8) of a window opening by an adhesive bead (6), and carries a profiled bead (3) provided with a recess (4) extending longitudinally and a tear-away cord (8) laid therein. Tear-away cord (8) is designed for breaking the adhesive bond between window pane (1) and frame (7). A contact surface is provided for adhesive bead (6) alongside profiled bead (3). In the fitted state, recess (4) is open toward adhesive bead (6) so that the tear-away cord may be pulled without exerting a high force directly in the adhesive bead that abuts the opening of the recess.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2005Date of Patent: July 31, 2007Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass FranceInventors: Thomas Orten, Thomas Bischof, Gerd Cornils, Dietmar Kolf

Publication number: 20050218557Abstract: A window having with a first surface, a second surface and an edge face is provided. A mould having an upper section and a moulding bed with a mould surface, which together form a mould channel into which a polymeric material can be introduced to form the trim, is also provided. At least a part of the window is inserted into the mould channel so that the perimeter of first window surface contacts the moulding bed and the window surface extends parallel to the mould surface. The polymeric material is introduced into the mould channel and the polymeric material adheres to the perimeter of the second surface of the window to provide a trim section which projects beyond the second surface and covers the edge face of the window, while preventing the adhesion of the trim section to the edge face of the window.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2005Publication date: October 6, 2005Applicant: SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS FRANCEInventors: Thomas Orten, Thomas Bischof, Ulrich Behrend

Publication number: 20040118079Abstract: In the case of a process for manufacturing a trim or profiled surround, made of a polymer material, on a window, the downwards-facing edge region of which bears on a moulding bed, the mould surface of which constitutes an extension of the surface of the window beyond its perimeter, the polymer material being placed over at least a portion of the perimeter of that surface of the pane lying at the top in such a way that a profiled surround is produced, with defined external dimensions and with a smooth transition, on the surface of the pane lying at the bottom, projecting beyond the perimeter of the window and bounded by the mould surface of the moulding bed, which surround also covers the edge face projecting from the moulding bed, means are used, according to the invention, to prevent adhesion of the profiled surround to the edge face of the window projecting from the moulding bed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2004Publication date: June 24, 2004Inventors: Thomas Orten, Thomas Bischof, Ulrich Behrend

Patent number: 6722731Abstract: A device is provided for assembling a fixed-mount vehicle window glass, particularly a windshield, with a component contiguous with one edge of the vehicle window glass, such as a water tray. A profiled part is fixed to the edge of the window glass. The profiled part may be a profiled strip that adheres to the vehicle window glass, and has a lip which joins smoothly and continuously with the free main face of the vehicle window glass. On its underside, the lip may include means of assembly with the component.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2002Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass FranceInventors: Gerd Cornils, Florian Fischer, Ulrich Behrend, Thomas Orten
