  • Patent number: 5222930
Abstract: This invention relates to an inertial force accommodating resistance exercise device and method having dense body extremities and an associated method of exercise for using the device. The subject device develops fitness for the user by providing the capability to acceleratedly translate inertial mass across a surface in order for the user to experience accommodating, inertial force resistance. In its preferred embodiment, the subject device is a two-wheeled body with the majority of the device's mass being concentrated in the body's extremities resulting in the extremities being denser than the wheels or the central section of the body. Each of the extremities comprise an inertial mass and axle. The device's wheels are mounted at their hubs on the axles in a mutually parallel posture along the length of the body at opposite ends of the body's central section with the diameters of the wheels perpendicular to the body's center line.

  • Patent number: 4900017
Abstract: This invention relates to an inertial force, accommodating resistance exercise device and method. The subject device includes a nonrotating structure of enhanced mass and at least one wheel connected to the nonrotating structure to permit the device to be rolled to enable a user to perform accommodating resistance exercise. The mass of the nonrotating structure may be varied according to the requirements of the exercise by substituting inertial disks of different size and/or an inertial cradle or cage member. In exercises utilizing the instant invention resistance is accommodating in direct proportion to the speed with which the mass of the nonrotating structure is translated and direction in which it is translated.

  • Patent number: 4775147
Abstract: This invention relates to an inertial force, accommodating resistance exercise device for developing and maintaining cardiovascular condition, flexibility, coordination, strength, and endurance. The subject device gives these benefits to the user by providing the capability to acceleratedly translate inertial mass across a surface in order for the user to experience accommodating, inertial force resistance. The device includes inertial mass connected to an axle and at least one wheel connected to the same axle whereby the device may be rapidly rolled to present the opposition of translational inertial force during a variety of exercise routines. Certain disclosed embodiments of the subject device eliminate and minimize the generation of undesirable torque by the inertial mass, and enhance and maximize the generation of pleasing single vector resistance offered by the inertial mass in accelerated translation during exercise.
