  • Patent number: 6168248
Abstract: A containment system for a packaged air conditioning unit is disclosed comprising a base pan, a first unit wrapper, a second unit wrapper, a compressor compartment partition, a condenser compartment partition, and a top cover having an indoor section and an outdoor section. The unit wrappers and the compartment partitions are guided into position during installation by engaging a notch formed on the wrapper or partition with a positioning cleat formed on the base pan. Because the unit wrappers and the partitions firmly abut the base ban throughout their length, these components help to laterally stiffen the base pan.

  • Patent number: 5697227
Abstract: An improved base pan is disclosed for a large ground or roof mounted "packaged" air conditioning unit. The base pan comprises a non-corrosive polymeric material but includes a section which is coated with a non-flammable substance. An airflow section of the base pan is defined by a raised platform, which, in combination with a set of ramp members, directs precipitation and condensation from the sensitive airlow section. Moisture droplets which do fall on the sensitive airflow section are directed toward a channel which uniformly slopes toward a drain hole.

  • Patent number: 5346002
Abstract: A cell panel for a gas furnace having a burner box containing combustion burners includes burner target plates formed by an extrusion process from the sheet material forming the cell panel. The burner target plates include a concave side positioned to face the discharge side of a corresponding burner, and a convex side upon which the flared inlet port of a corresponding heat exchanger cell may be securely seated.

  • Patent number: 5324194
Abstract: A bracket for a hot surface ignitor is provided with a central opening having downwardly directed supporting arms and upwardly directed L-shaped retention arms such that the ignitor can be lockingly engaged with the bracket without creating crack-inducing stresses in the ceramic base of the ignitor. The bracket is further provided with upwardly directed resilient detents that allow the bracket to be securely snapped into the burner box of a gas furnace. The bracket thus positions the hot surface portion of the ignitor within the burner box while positioning the ceramic base and electric supply wires exterior to the box.
