  • Patent number: 4507550
Abstract: A credit card includes a non-magnetic substrate and a first strip of permanently magnetic material extending in a first direction along the substrate. The first strip comprises a predetermined series of permanently magnetic lines, the lines defining positions along the first strip and being detectable by a magnetic reader. The predetermined series is disposed on the substrate with at least a pseudo-random starting point. The card also includes a second strip of temporarily magnetizable material extending along the substrate generally parallel to the first strip. The magnetizable material is adapted to have erasable credit indicia imprinted thereon at a spot corresponding to a preselected point in the series of the first strip. Both strips are hidden from view by non-magnetic ink.

  • Patent number: 4267429
Abstract: Apparatus for flash activation of the cement employed in the assembly of shoes comprising supports for positioning shoe components adjacent a source of heat, controls for energizing the source of heat in accordance with a predetermined schedule to accommodate interruptions in the flow of components through the apparatus by incorporating reheat cycles to maintain cement activation during interruptions, the controls for permitting the apparatus to be operated in advance of processing shoe components to establish a desired temperature level in the apparatus prior to processing shoe components, and providing processor controls for regulating the operation of the apparatus in a manner to turn out shoe components with properly activated cement on surfaces intended to be joined in assembly of completed shoes.

  • Patent number: 4060370
Abstract: A manifold gas valve for controlling gas flow to a burner has a diaphragm operated main valve, an electrically operated control valve, and means to delay the application of gas pressure to the main valve operating diaphragm to effect a delayed opening of the main valve. Opening of the control valve permits an immediate flow of gas to the main burner and simultaneously admits the application of gas pressure to effect a delayed opening of the main valve. The immediate flow of gas to the burner, which occurs upon opening of the control valve, is sufficient to effect reliable and timely ignition and support combustion.

  • Patent number: 3982523
Abstract: A burner orifice member for a detachably mounted gas oven burner is mounted directly on the end of the burner gas supply conduit by screw-threaded engagement, and the end portion of the gas supply conduit is rigidly connected to the oven wall by bracket means, with the orifice member in fixed alignment with the burner inlet.
