  • Patent number: 6536740
Abstract: A valve and valve actuator utilizing a disconnected piston design that separates under conditions of excessive actuator internal pressure to prevent overloading and damaging the threaded connection between the valve stem and actuator piston is disclosed. The hydraulically actuated valve actuator comprises a spring housing including a bonnet for coupling the spring housing to a valve. The spring housing includes an upper head and a packing gland that are sealingly attached to the spring housing to form an interior pressure chamber. The interior pressure chamber has a pressure responsive actuator piston disposed therein with a coil spring designed to move the actuator piston from a normally open to a fail closed position. The pressure responsive actuator piston includes a piston and a spring retainer nut that are separable after closing of the valve to prevent ambient pressure acting within the pressure chamber on the pressure responsive actuator piston from overloading the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 5382066
Abstract: This invention relates to devices for lifting containers such as freight containers using structures having bearing apertures mounted on the containers, such structures to be engaged by lifting devices which enter the bearing apertures add are brought to bear against such structures to permit lifting and movement of the containers in a more efficient manner than is currently known.

  • Patent number: 4969519
Abstract: An improved subsea tubing hanger having a body with an external shoulder for landing on a seat within a subsea wellhead housing, locking means carried by the hanger to engage the housing to lock the hanger in landed position, which locking means includes a locking element, actuator for setting the locking element and a securing pin for holding the actuating means in its locked position but being releasable responsive to sufficient upward force to sever the securing pin. The improved running tool includes a body with hydraulic actuated latching means for engaging the tubing hanger and which maintains its engagement with the tubing hanger even when hydraulic pressure is lost. The actuator includes an area exposed to hydrostatic riser pressure with sufficient area to retain the actuator in latched position even through the remainder of the actuating means is exposed to well bore hydrostatic head urging it out of latched position.

  • Patent number: 4691404
Abstract: An interdental toothbrush has a handle made from a mixture of a thermoplastic elastomer and a general purpose polypropylene. A twisted wire brush projects from the handle in axial alignment therewith. The toothbrush can be held within a loosely clasped fist, with one end of the brush held between a thumb and an index finger. By manipulating the thumb and index finger, the angle at which the brush projects may be changed at will. In this way, the insertion of the brush in more difficult to reach spaces in or around teeth is more easily performed.
