  • Patent number: 7669398
Abstract: A machine is provided for harvesting produce such as fruit from a pair of adjacent, generally parallel rows of trees. The machine includes a land vehicle for being driven between the adjacent rows of trees. The land vehicle includes a chassis that supports a fruit collection receptacle. There are at least one pair of selectively extendible and retractable lift arms pivotably mounted to the chassis. Each arm in each pair supports proximate a distal end thereof a carrier for holding a person. Each arm is adjustable to position the carrier such that a person in the carrier is able to manually collect fruit form a respective one of the rows of trees. There are plurality conduits, each of which is attached proximate an upper end thereof to a respective one of the carriers such that an entrance of the conduit is accessible to a person in a respective carrier.

  • Patent number: 7334612
Abstract: A log gripping attachment for a tree grinder includes a first thumb or jaw section pivotally mounted to the support frame of the grinder. There is a complementary second jaw section carried by the support frame and pivotally opposing the first jaw section. A drive mechanism selectively pivots the first jaw section open relative to the second jaw section such that a log may be received between the first and second jaw sections. The jaw driving mechanism may be alternately operated to pivot the first jaw section closed relative to the second jaw section. As a result, a log between the first and second jaw sections is gripped by the opposing jaw sections.

  • Patent number: 6363870
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for dispensing liquid fertilizer to a forestry planting site of the type normally found in a commercial forestry operation. One or more liquid fertilizer accommodating tanks are mounted on a vehicle such as a plow, a planter or other mobile equipment used in the tree farming industry. Liquid fertilizer is dispensed at selected locations along the site. Typically, fertilization is performed contemporaneously with another task such as cultivating, tilling, subsoiling or planting.

  • Patent number: 6330922
Abstract: A bedding plow suited for forestry planting operations includes a plow frame that is attached to a tractor or other tow vehicle. The frame holds a pair of trailing disk assemblies that are arranged along opposite longitudinal sides of the bed being plowed. A center-cut disk assembly is mounted pivotably to the frame between and forwardly of the trailing disk assemblies. A resilient biasing assembly such as a hydraulic or pneumatic relief mechanism interconnects an arm of the center-cut disk assembly and the frame. The resilient biasing device urges the center-cut disk assembly to engage the ground under normal circumstances and permits the disk assembly to retract upwardly and ride over obstructions that are encountered while the plow cultivates the bed.
