  • Publication number: 20220325660
Abstract: An engine system includes an engine having first and second exhaust manifolds each having outlet ports and a bypass runner. A first turbocharger is in fluid communication with the outlet port of the first manifold, and a second turbocharger in fluid communication with the outlet port of the second manifold. An exhaust aftertreatment device is in fluid communication with the first and second turbochargers. A turbocharger bypass circuit includes a valve assembly having an inlet side connected in fluid communication with the bypass runners of the first and second manifolds, an outlet side in fluid communication with the aftertreatment device, and a valve having an open position in which the inlet and outlet sides are in fluid communication and a closed position in which the inlet and outlet sides are not in fluid communication.

  • Patent number: 10190480
Abstract: A engine block cover plate is described having a depression shaped to guide coolant flow around a bend in a coolant circuit, the plate further including a plurality of oil ports. One example method of operation may include guiding a coolant flow around a bend in a cooling circuit within an engine block via the cover plate, the cover plate having coolant and oil ports positioned therein, and adjusting a valve positioned on the cover plate to control a flow of oil through the oil port in response to an engine component temperature. In this way, flow losses may be decreased while enabling improved oil flow control with reduced system complexity.

  • Patent number: 10107296
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a turbocharger compressor, where the system may comprise: an actuatable annular disk comprising choke slots therein; an outer annular disk comprising choke slots therein; and an actuator to rotate the actuatable annular disk relative to the outer annular disk to vary alignment of the choke slots of the actuatable annular disk and the outer annular disk. The actuator may be controlled by an engine controller responsive to operating conditions of the compressor and actuated to align choke slots. Alignment of the choke slots allows air to be drawn into the impeller effectively expanding the compressor flow capacity to prevent compressor choke.
