  • Patent number: 9734479
Abstract: A method for determining an operating set point for a combined cycle power plant, the method includes: simulating the operation of the power plant; correcting the simulation of the operation of the power plant; optimizing the simulation of the operation by simulating the operation at different operating settings and selecting at least one of the operating settings as being optimal, and generating the operating set point based on the optimized simulation of the power plant.

  • Publication number: 20090043539
Abstract: A method and system for automatically evaluating the performance of a power plant machine is provided. The method and system may include receiving a plurality of operating data from the at least one power plant machine. The method and system may also store the plurality of operating data in at least one data storage device. The method and system may also determine whether at least one performance indicator is within a range; and if the at least one performance indicator is outside of the range, then automatically notify a support network.

  • Patent number: 5442909
Abstract: A method for controlling the amount of side load experienced by a gas turbine engine and associated airframe components is provided, where the gas turbine engine includes a thrust vectoring system which deflects thrust at a vector angle away from a centerline thereof. The method includes the steps of calculating engine thrust, calculating a side load vector angle limit as a function of the calculated engine thrust and a side load limit, and limiting the vector angle of the thrust vectoring system to the side load vector angle limit in order to maintain operation of the gas turbine engine within the side load limit.

  • Patent number: 5376005
Abstract: The present invention relates to a partial denture that includes a series of artificial teeth along with an opening formed on a ridge portion of the denture for allowing existing teeth to extend therethrough. In a preferred embodiment the partial denture is basically comprised of a relatively hard acrylic material. Around the opening formed in the ridge there is provided a relatively soft material and this includes an elastic strip that is formed in the partial denture adjacent the opening formed in the ridge for existing teeth. The elastic strip is molded adjacent the ridge opening and is particularly integrally molded with the relatively hard acrylic material that forms a substantial part of the partial denture. To assure a secure connection between the elastic retainer strip and the relatively hard acrylic material, there is provided a generally curved S-shaped molded joint between each end of the elastic retainer strip and the relatively hard acrylic material.

  • Patent number: 5364269
Abstract: The present invention entails a partial denture that is basically constructed of a relatively hard acrylic material and includes a series of artificial teeth implanted along the ridge of the denture. The denture is particularly designed for a certain patient and is provided with at least one existing tooth opening for accommodating certain existing teeth of the patient. Formed about the buccal flange area of the denture and adjacent the existing tooth opening is an elastic retainer strip that is integrally molded with the relatively hard acrylic material of the denture. This elastic retainer strip engages the patient's gum in front of the existing teeth that project through the opening in the denture. On the opposite side of the existing tooth opening and opposite the elastic retainer strip there is provided a metal filler panel that is also bonded or integrally molded with the relatively hard acrylic material.

  • Patent number: 5048285
Abstract: A control system for use in gas turbine engines simultaneously provides for improved engine efficiency and extended engine life without sacrificing engine performance. The control system is characterized by both standard and extended engine life (EEL) operating modes. The extended engine life (EEL) mode can be requested by the pilot during periods of less extreme flight maneuvers. The control system will, in response to pilot request, determine the current thrust provided by the engine and reconfigure the engine to provide that value of thrust at values of engine pressure ratio (EPR) as a function of engine airflow which produce a reduction in turbine inlet temperature.
