  • Patent number: 11930101
Abstract: A system and method are provided for mitigating key-exhaustion attacks in a key exchange protocol. The method includes computationally confirming an exchange of key bits has provided fresh shared key material before information theoretically confirming the exchange of key bits has provided fresh shared key material, while maintaining synchronization between messaging parties. In one implementation, maintaining synchronization includes updating keys in between each post-processing message session and managing a local state of each messaging party in the key exchange protocol prior to sending a next post-processing message. In another implementation, maintaining synchronization includes hiding a message containing the information theoretic authenticator by executing a decoy authentication process, prior to using an information theoretical key.

  • Publication number: 20210351917
Abstract: Quantum Key Exchange (QKE, also known as Quantum Key Distribution or QKD) allows communicating parties to securely establish cryptographic keys. It is a well-established fact that all QKE protocols require that the parties have access to an authentic channel. Without this authenticated link, QKE is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. Overlooking this fact results in exaggerated claims and/or false expectations about the potential impact of QKE. In this paper we present a systematic comparison of QKE with traditional key establishment protocols in realistic secure communication systems.

  • Patent number: 8914473
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device firmware upgrade scheme is disclosed for upgrading a device image of a mobile communications device. A device management session is established between the mobile communications device and a first server using a first protocol. Upon obtaining identity information of a second server operable to compute or otherwise determine a customized upgrade process, a device inventory is transmitted to the second server using a second protocol. Upon receiving the customized upgrade process, the mobile communications device downloads one or more upgrade files from one or more resources. Thereafter, the mobile communications device is operable to provide a status indication to the first server using the first protocol.

  • Patent number: 8838084
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for provisioning mobile communication device upgrades. In an embodiment, the method comprises: providing an automated web service device management interface (“WSDMI”) accessible to one or more carriers; adapting a supplier provisioning system to receive via the WSDMI one or more upgrade requests from the one or more carriers; adapting the supplier provisioning system to respond via the WSDMI to the one or more upgrade requests from the one or more carriers; and adapting the supplier provisioning system to execute one or more device upgrades on one or more supplier provisioning system connected devices. In an embodiment, the receiving and responding via the WSDMI is based on SOAP encoded XML messages.

  • Publication number: 20130324466
Abstract: The invention relates to treatment of heart failure in a mammal. Accordingly, the invention is directed to establishing a dosing regimen whereby the therapeutic benefits conferred by administration of a neuregulin such as glial growth factor 2 (GGF2) or a subsequence thereof are maintained and/or enhanced, while concomitantly minimizing any potential side effects.
