  • Publication number: 20140014776
Abstract: A system and method thereof is provided for electrically heating a component. The system includes at least one heating element adapted to be adhesively bonded to a surface on the component and means for controlling flow and duration of an electrical current to the heating element from a power supply. The controlling means comprises a first heating cycle for curing an adhesive to bond the heating element to the surface and has a second heating cycle for providing ice protection to the surface.

  • Patent number: 7395081
Abstract: A mobile telephone has a display (240) and a rotator input device (250) comprising a rotatable element and capable of generating commands for browsing and selecting objects on the display. It also has a wireless telecommunication interface to a mobile telecommunications network. A processing device is coupled to the display, the rotator input device and the wireless telecommunication interface. A text-handling software application is executable by the processing device. The processing device is configured, in a first operating mode, to provide first user input by way of the rotator input device (250), said first user input including a number sequence representative of a desired telephone number which is to be reached over the mobile telecommunications network, and to use said first user input when establishing a telephone call connection through the wireless telecommunication interface.

  • Publication number: 20080043574
Abstract: Low probability of marine impact (LPMMI) sound signals have a modulation component selected to reduce a behavioral response from a marine mammal from that which would occur when transmitting another sound signal having approximately the same time duration component, approximately the same bandwidth component, and approximately the same center frequency component as the LPMMI waveform but having a modulation component comprising a frequency modulation.

  • Publication number: 20060254740
Abstract: Lost foam pattern assemblies formed by gluing together a plurality of EPS foam pattern segments with a polystyrene-like glue comprising an aromatic resin that has a molecular weight less than 10,000 and thermally degrades at temperatures no greater than said EPS. The glue contains sufficient first plasticizer, miscible with the resin, to impart a viscosity of about 0.1 to 5 PaS @ about 100-135° C. to the glue. The glue may optionally include a second, limited-miscibility, plasticizer to accelerate the hardening rate and increase the ultimate rigidity of the glue.

  • Publication number: 20050043464
Abstract: A process including topically applying a finely divided powder onto a plurality of polystyrene beads. The finely divided powder includes brominated compounds including a brominated alkane having at least one substituent aromatic group. The polystyrene beads are pre-expanded with the topically applied brominated compounds and a molded pattern is formed from the pre-expanded polystyrene beads. A lost foam casting mold is formed with the molded pattern. Molten metal is poured into the lost foam casting mold and onto the molded pattern to depolymerize the polystyrene beads with the topically applied brominated compounds.
