    Abstract: A circuit arrangement for operating light sources includes input terminals for a power supply system voltage, a first rectifying circuit, a boost converter having output terminals, a half-bridge arrangement having two switches, which is connected to the output terminals of the boost converter, an inductance, the first terminal of which is coupled to the centre point of the half-bridge, and a second rectifying circuit, the first input terminal of which is coupled to the second terminal of the inductance and the second input of which is coupled to one of the output terminals of the boost converter. The output terminals of the second rectifying circuit are coupled to the inputs of a current-compensated inductor. At least one light source is connected to the output terminals of the current-compensated inductor, and the output terminals of the current-compensated inductor are coupled to an output terminal of the boost converter via filter capacitors.

    Abstract: A method for actuating a discharge lamp (LP), wherein in order to ignite the lamp a resonant circuit (L, C1) is brought into resonance or near resonance by the action of alternating current and as a result adjustment to give a predetermined amperage is performed by varying the frequency of the alternating current. For this purpose a measuring device transmits measured values of the amperage to means for controlling the frequency, and these means establish the frequency in dependence on the measured values. Before the ignition voltage is applied the electrodes of the lamp are pre-heated by the action on the resonant circuit of alternating current of a different frequency than when the lamp is ignited.

    Abstract: Phase angle detection techniques for phase-cut dimming lighting circuitry are disclosed. A phase-cut lighting driver circuit may include galvanic isolation circuitry having a primary and secondary side. The phase angle information of a phase-cut signal may be detected on the secondary side of the driver circuitry, and a microcontroller can create a dimming signal that adjusts the driver output power according to the phase angle information. In some embodiments, the phase angle detection techniques may be utilized to control the output of lighting driver circuitry, such as a phase-cut dimming LED driver.
