  • Patent number: 4604574
Abstract: The relative orientation of a probe and a surface is maintained by positioning a proximity sensor off-axis on the probe, rotating the probe, and using the signal from the probe to adjust the relative orientation in a feedback loop.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 1984
Date of Patent: August 5, 1986
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Thomas Posluszny, Kevin D. Smith, Paul W. Schlie
  • Patent number: 4594549
Abstract: A uniform eddy current is produced in a part and the field is probed in several orthogonal positions by two coils to yield, for each position and for each coil, a signal that manifests the phase difference between the field and the signal producing the current and a signal that manifests the relative strength of the field.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 1984
Date of Patent: June 10, 1986
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
    Inventors: Eugene Smith, Thomas Posluszny
  • Patent number: 4545027
Abstract: An adaptive digital filter employs sequentially connected shift register stages to produce an N-fold correlation of pulses within a pulse train that satisfy search criteria. Once a signal has been acquired, a processor adaptively changes the tolerance length of the shift registers; the shifting clock and the number of stages to generate a real-time processed signal that tracks the source of the pulse train.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1983
Date of Patent: October 1, 1985
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Thomas Posluszny, Oscar Oliver, Sr.
