  • Publication number: 20090084281
Abstract: Register errors on a web of material which is moving through the printing nip of a multicolor web-fed rotary printing press are reduced. This is accomplished by providing a portion of the web of material, what is located between the web lateral edges of the web and areas in the vicinity of the lateral edges of the web, with a deformation relative to each other. Such deformations are directed perpendicularly to a plane of rotation of the web of material which is subject to a register error occurring in the direction of rotation of the web of material.

  • Patent number: 7497162
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing register errors on a web of material (04) moving through the printing nip of a multicolor web-fed rotary press, comprising the following steps: providing a portion between an area of the web of material (04) located between the two lateral edges of the web of material (04) and areas in the vicinity of the lateral edges of the web of material with a deformation relative each other in a direction perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the web of material (04) subject to a register error occurring in the direction of rotation of the web of material (04).

  • Publication number: 20090050731
Abstract: A flying reel change is accomplished by joining an exhausting web of a first reel that is to be replaced to a web of a fresh or replacement reel. The fresh reel is caused to run at the speed of the exhausting reel to be replaced prior to such joining. The exhausting web is joined to the fresh web once the diameter of the reel to be replaced has reached a set minimum. This minimum diameter may be fixed by the characteristics of a core for this exhausting reel.

  • Publication number: 20070102564
Abstract: A reel changer is used to support rolls of material. A web of the material is unwound from one of the rolls while an additional roll of material is held for use in a roll changer when the first roll is exhausted. The rolls are each supported for rotation by two holding fixtures. Each of these holding fixtures has a supporting journal with gripping jaws. At least four collets are arranged in an axial direction of the supporting journals.
