Abstract: The present disclosure provides an apparatus for facilitating a myofascial therapy to a user. Further, the apparatus may include a flexible membrane which may be configured to be securely wrapped around at least one portion of an object. Further, the flexible membrane includes one or more protrusions disposed on a first surface of the flexible membrane. Further, the at least one protrusion may be configured to provide a myofascial release to a user upon rolling the at least one portion of the object against a body part of the user.

Abstract: An optomechanical pressure-measurement system measures pressure in the range of 10?6 Pa-10?2 Pa by measuring various properties of a vibrational mode of an ultra-thin membrane member. With independent measurements of the thickness and density of the membrane, in addition to the measured vibration mode properties, the system can operate as a primary pressure sensor. The membrane member is mounted on a vibration-isolated mount and is excited by a drive force. A laser beam impinges on the excited membrane, and an optical phase detector detects the amplitude of the oscillations, as well as parameters of the laser beam affected by the membrane vibration. In one embodiment, a mechanical damping is computed based on the amplitude or frequency shift (depending on the pressure range), and the pressure based on the ring-down time of the membrane vibration mode.

Abstract: A mute for a horn-type musical instrument is disclosed. The mute comprises a resonating dish which has an opening therein to permit air flow through the dish and a slit extending from the opening to facilitate resonance of the dish. The dish is adapted to fit over the outside of the bell of the instrument on the bell wire by adjustable fitting means. The mute changes the timbre of the sound generated by the instrument, yet maintains the majority of the volume of sound prior to placement of the mute onto the bell.
