  • Publication number: 20170054376
Abstract: Offline power converters draw very small amounts of power when unloaded or inactive (no load demand), power consumption may be further reduced by allowing the start-up controller and/or secondary-side controller to enter into a sleep mode (functions within the controllers shut down). When the energy storage capacitors for either the start-up controller or the secondary-side controller reach a low state-of-charge, either controller can wake itself and the other controller, thereby allowing the power converter to become active until both energy storage capacitors are refreshed enough for the controllers to go back into a low power sleep mode. This cycle, which draws very little average power from the AC line, continues until the power converter is required to remain awake (operational mode) and deliver power to the load.

  • Publication number: 20160352231
Abstract: A series-parallel resonant power converter comprises a primary-side start-up controller and a secondary-side controller, wherein the primary-side start-up controller sends power to the secondary-side controller when power (voltage) is first applied to the series-parallel resonant power converter. The start-up controller starts up the series-parallel resonant power converter using an open-loop start-up technique wherein the secondary-side closed-loop controller takes over control of the series-parallel resonant power converter once it becomes powered and activated. During light-load or no load conditions, the secondary-side controller sends an off resonance higher frequency or a standby code inhibit (disable) command to the start-up controller.

  • Publication number: 20160352237
Abstract: Power converters typically have unique circuitry for graceful start-up and to develop correct operating voltage biases. Typically this unique circuitry is incorporated into a primary-side “start-up” controller. This start-up controller can also be the primary means of control of the power converter once started. However, a secondary-side controller is typically needed for more exact output voltage regulation, duplicating circuitry already present in the primary-side start-up controller. During light-load or no load conditions, on and off switching of the gate driver is stopped when the secondary-side controller sends a standby code inhibit (disable) command to the start-up controller. When power needs to be sent to the secondary side of the transformer to charge a secondary side capacitor, the secondary-side controller sends an enable code command to the start-up controller where it is detect to allow the start-up controller to operate in a normal fashion with the secondary side controller.

  • Patent number: 9509795
Abstract: A wireless mobile communication (WMC) device may be utilized to generate and/or maintain multimedia data files. Context data tags may be created to tag the generated multimedia data files, enabling identification of multimedia data files without directly accessing the contents of the multimedia data files. Context data tags may comprise such attributes as time/date stamps, location, subject, environment, scheduling, and/or biometric information. The WMC device may maintain user preference information, which is unique to the WMC device capabilities and/or to a specific device user. The user preference information may be utilized to specify attributes that may be utilized in creating context data tags for multimedia data files. The user preference information may be maintained in the WMC device and/or externally. Tagging operation may be performed dynamically, and a remote device may be utilized to perform tagging operations and/or to maintain the user preference information.

  • Patent number: 9509858
Abstract: A method and system of real-time replenishment and electronic confirmation of sale, such as a SMS text message, to a consumer responsive to purchase or referral of long distance calling minutes, including real-time replenishment of the customer's account, and seamless, pin-less use of the purchased long-distance from the user's chosen phone(s). A computer based server receives a phone number, monetary amount, and an indication of whether an increase or decrease to the balance is requested. Phone number is then compared with a stored list of registered phone numbers having a unique pin and a balance amount. The balance is increased or decreased by desired amount if comparison results in a match. If comparison does not result in a match a new pin is created associating the phone with the balance amount. A message is then sent containing an access number for use in pre-paid long distance calling.

  • Patent number: 9462508
Abstract: Wireless mobile communication (WMC) devices located in operating proximity of each other may be enabled to form a mesh (ad hoc wireless) network. WMC devices in a mesh network may form a queuing system wherein each WMC device may store data forwarded to and/or from other WMC devices in the mesh network. Each WMC device in the mesh network may have different queuing capability based on a plurality of factors that may comprise internal factors such as processing, storage, power, and/or connectivity. The mesh network may comprise an internal addressing scheme that may enable utilization of the queuing system whether or not WMC devices in the mesh network are communicatively coupled to external networks.

  • Publication number: 20160149504
Abstract: Power converters, e.g., AC/DC and DC/DC, typically have unique circuitry for a proper graceful start-up and to develop correct operating voltage biases. Typically this unique circuitry is incorporated in a primary-side controller. This primary-side controller could also be the primary means of control of the power converter once started. However, a secondary-side controller is typically needed for more exact output voltage regulation, duplicating circuitry already present in the primary-side controller. Complication is typically added by linear communication between the two controllers across an isolation barrier. A simplified primary-side start-up controller is envisioned providing minimal circuitry to power up a converter until a secondary-side controller activates and takes control by sending discrete PWM commands across the isolation barrier instead of a linear signal. The start-up controller can provide voltage and current protection if the secondary-side controller fails.
